College

I am so Irregular...

next semester i could only enroll to subjects equal to 6 units.

and I got a plus one year.

I suck

One extra year of college? That's no big deal, trust me. Most students end up on the five year plan because they've changed majors or want a higher GPA. Roughly half of my friends are staying at least one extra semester. So don't sweat it! Just make sure to apply for some scholarships or loans so that you can afford the extra time.

I've been in college for two years, and I have six more to go. Seriously, they'll fly by faster than you think.

It took me three years to get two years of college education. It's no big deal. As long as you are still doing it and making progress, you're fine.

Aninaj 03-18-2010 02:26 AM

yeah having to go for an extra year doesn't mean you suck. for the first year i went to college I didn't even know what I wanted my major to be. no time spent on knowledge is time wasted though

Yumeko 03-18-2010 03:44 AM

I've also got an extra year tacked onto the "traditional" four year degree. I'm also doing summer school this summer to keep up with some of the requirements for my degree. I switched majors twice and emphases within my major, so I had to do some catch up. I also had to replace some grades in order to have them work for my degree.

If you can get out with your degree and have a good academic resume to back it up, the extra year is well worth it.

That's no biggie. I've just started with tech school but I'll probably switch majors when I do transfer to an university. It's hard to decide what to do sometimes, so that extra year is a good thing.

Tigrixx 03-19-2010 08:41 PM

Not a big thing, really..
Some don't even get to finish college lol
Just enjoy it and learn as much as you can. Everyone goes at their own pace anyways..

Hey I was working on being a 3rd year Senior before I graduated. It's not so bad.

My boyfriend was in college for 5 years.
One in a community college (he had crappy grades in high school and wanted to get come better grades to get into a better school) and then this is his fourth year in a university.
After he graduates this year, we're moving to the west coast for him to go to graduate school.

Anyone noticed that people can spend many, many years in school?

Little Closet Monster 06-02-2010 09:56 PM

yes..... i am in my 30..... and i am going back to school, and i stall don't know what i wont to be

The Real Nikki 06-03-2010 02:15 PM

I can't think of anyone that just takes four years in college and jumps into a job. It's so abnormal these days.

Five years, then going to graduate school? Eh plus I took a semester off. I'm going to be so broke and so old by the time I'm finished with it all. But at least we all get to have fun. ^^ That's what makes it worth it during the time you're there.

My dad wants me to finish college in the next two years (been in community college for 2 years). Thing is, I'm going into a specialized field in a top art school. I honestly don't expect to be done in the next two years. I know myself well enough to know that there's no way I can master my field (animation) well enough in 2 years to be able to go off and get a job. I would PREFER to stay in school a little longer. Unfortunately, with my family it's all a race. Who can get done first with the best grades. I wouldn't be surprised if my dad just stopped funding me regardless of how well I was doing if I don't graduate by the time he wants me to. But...at least I'll have had 2 years of classes to get me on my own way..right? right?

A lot of people spend more time in college. The 4 year plan is the basic model for someone considering college. Thing it, most people considering college are stilling trying to figure out what they want to do with themselves. Some of my friends will probably be in school for several more years as well. In fact, one of my friends is almost definitely. She spent almost 2 years on one major, decided to do another major after she hit some difficulties with the first one. Then her parents finally changed their mind and told her they would support her if she wanted to become a chef.

Honestly, college is such a regularity here in the U.S. that a lot of people feel better spending even just one extra year in school to give themselves a better edge against the competition. And with so few jobs lately, every job has major competition, including a cashier job at McDonald's. Some places even require a full resume just to scoop ice cream (*grumble grumble*). You don't suck. You're getting the chance to put greater focus into your studies and time into figuring out where you want to go in life. =D
