I Need a Nurse!
So I just recently graduated high school, and have to go to community college for two years. Mainly just for math and science. But either way, I am going probably starting spring next year for money issues. I am eighteen years old, and work in a craft store. So just a bit of background there.
I was thinking about going to school to become a nurse. I can take classes to become one in the community college and have been reading about becoming one online. Ever since I was little, I have watched medical shows, and do not cringe at the site of blood. But the thing is, I want to hear it from people who work as nurses how their job is. Likes/Dislikes. If I were to become a nurse I would want to work in a hospital. I like high stress environments. But the thing is I am wicked needle phobic. It is probably something I can get over, and I can watch that stuff to a point... haha pun. But any way.. Nurses out there, What is your job like? What do you like/ unlike about it? Any other information you can give me? I thank you all very much! |
I wish I could be more helpful, but I'm not a nurse. My sister just graduated nursing school back in May though, and I will tell you that nursing school is VERY difficult and challenging. It's going to be hard to keep a job while you're going to school, since you're going to be drowning in homework.
My sister really loves nursing though, because she likes the feeling she gets from helping others. :D It's a tough job I think, but a fulfilling one. Good luck deciding! I'm sure there's someone around here who can give you better advice. |
Lol, Thank you very much. And I know it is a lot of work^^ It wouldn't be called work otherwise. But I know I can do it. I just need to know what it like and such since I don't really know any nurses in real life. I probably wouldn't be going for a few years any how. Next year I plan to move to a different state, and have to wait a few months. Otherwise the price for classes is about triple the amount.
Thank you though Sizzla ^_^ I am hoping someone on this site is. There are a lot of older people on this site. xD |
I was a vet tech, does that count? XD My major problem was not stabbing myself with the needle when doing practice injections. Once I got over that I was fine. As for field work, it's sad to see what comes in the door sometimes. I also worked at a local animal control center as a vet tech and some of those cases were ones you couldn't help. I suppose with people it would be kind of the same way. Helping another living thing become healthy though was well worth it.
For human nurses I hear school is pretty hard. It seems like everyone is going into nursing. I know it's a high demand field so I say go for it if you're really interested in it. |
Lol, I have two friends going to school to help animals. One is going to become a vet, while the other a vet tech. But thank you very much ^_^.

Hey everyone! So it has been months, but I decided to update you all. I gave up on the nurse schooling. If is just far too expensive for me right now. But I did find something else, where I would still be helping people. Esthetics (skin care). It is a 10 month program where I would learn skin care, make-up. It pretty much beauty. But I figured it would give me a better job than working retail, plus I am moving to Florida in December-next year with my boyfriend.
Good deal on the apartment! His collage pays for it, and loan him a bit of money for food and such. Plus it is furnished. He is going to Full Sail for Recording arts. Something he just loves! It isn't perfect, but I think it is a great start! Espically when we are still young (Im 19, he will be 20). But I figure, Disney is just down the street. I could try and work for a spa there ^_^ I really want to do FX makeup, but for now with my boyfriend's school it is a bit out of reach. But that is alright^^ Probably better school out in Cali for it any way. |
Well, that's great! ^^ Well done and I hope things keep going well for you.
