Because there have been guys I've dated that I just got so annoyed about whenever I heard anything about them.
But it'll be okay, it's just a silly birthday, and he's just getting one year closer to being a grouchy, old biddy that you won't even remember.

@OP - Your relationship is over. If he was abusive and you're still having issues, seek counseling.
But in general you have to get over it. :| The longer he affects you on a daily basis the longer he controls you.
You also neglected to mention that he was abusive in OP, so, don't get mad when people make replies based on the information they had, rather than the information they didn't.

Abusive or not, you need to get over it. There's no reason to get sick over someone's birthday. No reason at all.
