bordering on a mental breakdown
I just needed to get this out there because I'm freaking out and driving my friends crazy.
I just got hired to do a modeling shoot. I have never modeled before and I always brushed it off when my friends told me I should. Now I have a professional photographer with an impressive portfolio who really wants to work with me because she loves my look. This is an ego boost like I've never felt before. This ego boost is coupled with a massive amount of anxiety and pure terror. I'm a bouncy, excited, terrified emotional trainwreck. I'm sure I'll calm down by tomorrow but OH MY GOD this is so intense and it shouldn't be but I feel it and oh god oh god. I've had dreams about this but then I laughed it off because I was like "That'll never happen!" I've been telling this story in a very excited manner to my friend, and her response was Quote:
Some advice from models would be nice, but other than that I just needed to get all this out. I am dying to tell anyone who will listen just to get my energy out. I feel like I'm going to explode and vomit everywhere. I don't even know if I'm allowed to post this here since it's not really a life issue, but I didn't know where else to put it! |
Well that's very exciting! I understand being nervous. It's a new venture, and one that is much admired in our society. Hopefully, once you get those first meetings and shoots out of the way, it will all become familiar and old hat :D
Don't let them force you into nude shoots! I think I have run into at least one model on here. I hope they show up :/ |
Dude! Awesome. I've always thought about trying out for modeling (plus sizes since I have a bigger build) but I would need to get toned a bit first. I've even considered doing some nude modeling for the art classes, but I always chicken out at the last minute. >>
That is AWESOME NEWS! |
For art classes it's legit -nods-
But you often hear stories about girls starting out who get wrangled into nude photo shoots and end up mortified by it later. |
GOOD LUCK!!!
A few things to remember starting out: Don't be pressured into anything you're not comfortable with. Listen to the photographer and try to relax. It depends on what they're going for, but try to enjoy yourself. How often are you going to get someone taking tons of beautiful pictures of you? I mean, unless you do go pro. ;) It's okay to be excited!! I'm not a professional model or anything, but I've done a little here or there. XP |
Thanks you guys! I'm a lot calmer today, ahaha.
I definitely won't be doing any nudes or anything I'm not comfortable with. We've talked about that and she said that she doesn't have a problem with it. She seems like a really nice lady. Now all we have to do is bounce some ideas off of each other, arrange a time and date and then I'll freak out some more and ask her a bunch of questions about what I should bring and what I should do. :XD |
that's a great opportunity for you :D my brother was a model he really like it but, he didn't want to go pro. good luck at the photo shoot :D

Well, the number one advice is always stay calm and NEVER EVER freak out. Take deep breaths and such. If you're doing a professional photo shoot however, you've got to be careful...you could be squished into clothes and make-up for hours on end without food. You have to bring a snack with you for that, because you'll end up fainting if you don't...and DEFINITELY don't do nude shots unless you feel perfectly comfortable with it. The reason why every model looks so good is because they're calm and collected, and their brain is in tact, they're confident that they look glam. If you're seriously, seriously nervous, it's probably going to show.
And if you get forced to wear something you're not comfortable with, you HAVE to tell them. Have to. It's seriously all about being comfortable. Yeah, the first time I ever modeled, I was pretty freaked out and nervous too...but once you get a few good shots, the modeling becomes natural. You'll find yourself loving it. If you don't get good shots the first few tries, don't be upset, just keep going. The photographer usually won't yell at you unless he's really professional and works with the best models. -This is actually the advice I got from a magazine model when I first started. |
