Ok so today my dog Scooter was outside being a dog, barking at someone who had come to visit. I was watching him to make sure that the guy wouldn't kick him. I don't think that Scooter would have bit him... Anyways he started yelping and ran towards the house limping. I brought him in blah blah blah. There is a 3" cut on his side starting just above where his armpit is. It's not bleeding and doesn't appear to be past his skin. And it just keeps getting torn wider and wider. I can't afford to take him to the vet right now(I'm currently trying to convince my family to let me sell my stuff so we can afford to take him to the vet). We have two ace bandages wrapped around a bandage on his cut. But he just won't leave them alone. I've had to re-bandage and and wrap him three times today. And I won't be able to constantly watch him with, and nobody in this house would watch him other than me and my boyfriend. With College ending I'm going to be busy with finals this next week as well. So is there anything that I can do to make him unable to pull them off? I can't afford a cone for his head...

Did you try covering the bandage with tape? Not normal tape but the one used for injuries (the name escapes me). When my dog got hurt on her little paw we covered the bandage with that, a bit on the fur so she couldn't pull it off either.

Yeah we tried some of that. It is working. Though we have to keep changing it every couple of hours because the wound keeps re-opening...

If you have anyone that you know is very knowledgeable about wounds on animals, I would suggest talking to them before making any other decisions. Or, failing that, talk to a vet before doing anything else. Because if it's going to get worse then by the time you have some money to go to the vet, it could cost you more then what you have.

Yeah I already thought of that :). I know someone who was a doctor. I don't have anyone that I knew who knows about animals. So I figure a doctor would be better than nothing. He's just going to help me shave around the wound and bandage it properly. He also said that he's going to pay for a vet (of course I am going to pay him back). So everything will be ok within the week.

If you are able to do payment plans with him, go ahead and do that. At least then you will be able to not only help your dog but also can pay for his treatment as well. I think most vets are willing to do payment plans.
