Okay, so I started my period the day before yesterday. My period was really off to start with. For the most part there more unbroken own lining than the blood. The tampon had the chunks all over it with pink on it. The chunks themselves were either dark red or a light red. Today it smoothed out but greatly reduced to the point where it like I was ending soon. I usually go for about 4 days before it gets that low. Anyways I was changing my tampon and it was practically empty. I was going to wrap it up and throw it away when I noticed this very tiny weird sack on it. The picture I attached is what it looked like. It kidney bean shaped and there was blood in the middle with tiny little red things extending a minuscule length out of it. At the "top" there were two tiny red extensions coming out of the top of the blood inside the sack with two dots at the end. It didn't go past the sack but sorta close. From the middle point of the sack this other red extension came out and extended past the sack. It went out a little ways and looked like it had the clear lining around it. It was very small bigger than a quarter inch but less than half an inch. What exactly happened there? Should I be worried or anything? Or am I freaking out for nothing? I've never had anything like this happen before and I'm 22. If it helps, I'm sexually active and I take Ortho Tri Cylen. If you click on the picture you get a better view... Oh yeah. I have had no cramps. Just fatigue and back ache(last night)

I take the same pill -high dose. I've experienced odd flows now and again depending on the stress in my life, but never anything like you described... Personally I'd talk to my mom about it if it was me, and depending on her reaction maybe make an appointment with my Dr.

Was your period late at all? That's an important bit of info for this topic.

Those are very strange symptoms. I looked up your medication online and irregular periods are a side effect of taking it if you are in the first few months of using it. My mind jumped to some other conclusions when I read your post, but I am not a doctor and I do not want to scare you with anything that probably isn't true.

Anyway, as women, we have a lot of weird things happen, and birth control really screws up our bodies in some ways. It's possible I hit the nail on the head above, and it's possible that something else is wrong. With those symptoms I would either go to a doctor to be sure of what it is now, or wait to see if the symptoms recur next month. If they do recur next month and you've not seen the doctor yet, please go. It is likely it is nothing, but it is always better to know. If anything the doctor will get you on a type of birth control that does not effect you in this way.

I started three days later than usual. I have been taking these pills for almost a year now and since I started them I always started on the second dark green pill. But I started on the 4th one. Also I started at an extremely weird time. Since I first started my period it has always started early in the morning. I started at 10pm at night this time.

Hmm. Well, I know that occasionally our bodies just start reacting differently to medication out of the blue when they didn't before. For example, I had a lot of strep throat as a child, and took penicillin for years when suddenly I broke out in hives upon taking it one day and I've been allergic to it since.

Since birth control effects a woman's body in far more extreme ways than simple penicillin this could be your body saying it's time for a different type of birth control. Like I said before, this could be a one time thing that could have been caused by a number of different things, or it could be your cue to go to the doctor and get a new bc or get off of it altogether and let your body reset for awhile.

You may be right. I think I'll go my doctor this upcoming week. We'll talk about it and see if I need to switch or what. Thanks a lot.
