Apparently it falls under a "shelter deduction" so it should be fine though I would do some extra research because I don't know how legitimate the site I found it on is. But Shelter Deduction is definitely what you want to look for.

It said this though:

Quote:

Allowable shelter expenses

monthly rent paid (or owed) if you are a tenant, or the amount you are responsible for if you sublet or share an apartment;
mortgage, including payments on the principal, interest, legal fees, home improvement loans (even if you are behind in your payments);
real estate taxes and homeowner insurance (even if you have no mortgage), municipal water and sewer fees;
the cost of any repairs to your property (a new boiler, new roof, replacement of windows, etc.);
trailer payments and parking fees; and/or

Ooooh thanks poet! That makes me feel better. I mean our current windows do not open. That could really be a fire hazard. Some are not only painted shut, but nailed also! We've tried getting the nails out but can't. xP

Just make sure to do some research with your husband on Shelter Deductions to make sure that it works that way in your area

Okay I will have to do that. It really does make sense though. [yes]

Okay! Now how do tell our parents? We thought about just installing them and let them notice, but my brother drives by my house all the time and he'd tell on me. I'm kinda scared to tell them. xP

You're a grown woman llonka. Just straight up tell them, and if they throw a fit explain the situation calmly and that you got a good deal after some arguing.

Okay lol. I just don't wanna listen to whole "you'll have to quit school and get a low paying job" spiel again.

Parents will always be parents and they're always going to tell you when they think things are going wrong, even if you don't like the way they went about it. You should sit down and talk to your parents about the windows - see if they have any suggestions or know better deals out there. Really, I agree entirely with what ElysiumFate said - 10 years for WINDOWS!? That sounds silly to me. I'm sure you could get a better deal on brand new windows, or, like she said, simply fix the ones that you already have.
