He can't get a job he's just 14. xDD

The Wandering Poet 03-10-2008 08:50 PM

@ James - Which method are you planning on anyways?

@ Andre - It's better to know how to shave early than to have to wait until you're old enough for a job.

And if it's a razor it's best to learn before getting to the job age so you're not at an interview covered in cuts.

Yeah, that was when I went on hiatus. If you really feel compelled to talk to me about this, PM me. Don't talk about it in a shaving thread. xP And try not to be so offensive, please.

@James: Well since you don't really know how, that's probably what your father is worried about and he doesn't want you to cut yourself, especially if there's not that much visible hair at a glance. You should try asking him about how to shave.

LOL. Jesus fucking christ. Is Menewsha still Nazi run? I don't see how I'm causing such an issue just mentioning that you quit. And I wasn't being offensive, but now I am. And I'm not going to PM you because ur totally rude when I've done that before.

*runs from the ban hammer* I DIDNT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Valedia: No, it's visible. I have a mexican 'stache going on, which is pretty dark. Not to mention the hair on my cheeks.
I'm not really concerned about cutting myself. Shaving looks easy enough, I've read instructions and whatnot and various web pages.

Kaze: I don't know yet. I'm sure I can figure that out when he *finally* lets me?

EDIT: Secret, please stop. There's no need for that. There are some things people want to be kept private, she wasn't being rude.

What you should do is calmly ask him why he doesn't want you to shave. Ask him for real reasons, not "because I said so" and calmly, this is important, CALMLY state why you want to shave. Really, as long as you show you're mature about the whole thing, your chances of bending your parents to your will increases by 1 million. ;D

... What the hell? o.O
This wasn't an issue. I was just asking you to PM me since talking about me leaving is off topic to the subject, which is shaving.

Banhammer? Dude. I'm not a staff member or even remotely close.

But yes, Mene is still "Nazi run". Read up the SF forum about galy. [None of which I had anything to do with, to note.]

You're right. But I've never cut myself shaving. Shaving is easy as hell. Nobody taught me, its pretty logical what you have to do. I doubt he'll cut himself on his first try. :P

Furious 03-10-2008 09:22 PM

Ohmygod.

He just came in here. He said that when he gets home tonight, he'll show me how to shave.
He said he didn't want me mad at him, so...I can shave! Wow.

That was seriously unexpected. Hallelujah! =D

Ryose 03-10-2008 09:23 PM

I guess it depends on the shaver and the instrument. I got bitten by an electric razor once. DANG that hurt. I switched to a bladed razor after that.

....

course then there was that incident in college with the closed drawer, the ineffective safety cap, my knuckles and the total lack of band-aids to be had....but that was just my failure to look where I was putting my hands.

Eddafred 03-13-2008 09:42 PM

xDD I remember going through the same thing when my facial hair started to come in.

Yeah, once you know how to use a manual, using an electric's pretty easy.
I usually use an electric, but if I let it grow out too much (5+ days), I usually stick to the manual, because electrics have a tendancy to bite if the whiskers are too long.

Good luck, and I hope you don't cut yourself.
I actually managed to avoid drawing blood my first time xD

Vickicat 03-14-2008 08:03 PM

Shaving.

LOL what? o_O Your dad won't let you shave? Why do you even need his permission at all? Just go out and buy a razor, they're cheap. I mean, if you've actually got something there to shave, I don't see the problem. Now, I'm a girl, but girls have to shave their legs at a certain point in their life, and I think I started shaving mine around fourteen or so. And my mom wouldn't have told me I couldn't do that! And cause embarrassment for me because people would have stared at my hairy legs. XD In fact, my mom probably told me I should, and showed me how. I can't really remember that far back but I do remember for a while feeling weird about it because I was young and all that. But yeah. Your dad sounds... Strange. D: I can't imagine a parent actually not allowing someone to shave.

FrostsHellion 03-20-2008 02:08 PM

Sorry... not to make light of the situation, but too young to shave..? i mean i can understand if you wanted to booze it up with your friends or go get laid, but shaving? It gives me these amusing images of an idea for a teen movie, about a small group of guys who decide that they're going to shave for the first time before they graduate from high school and their comical misadventures in obtaining disposable razors and shaving cream... so yeah, sorry. i just felt the need to throw that out there.

Miki-Chan 03-20-2008 09:21 PM

Wow he is very stubborn i wonder why he won't let you
