Why has no one come???
if this is not acceptable I'm sorry and this thread can be locked. I just need a way to complain to Mene and not just my mom and computer.
Okay getting to the point: So I made a art shop. It took me a few days to get it right, and then when I was all done NOT ONE PERSON showed up. I drew so many pictures, trying to get some samples I was happy with, then I had to redo the layout like fifteen times, just to get it right and then nobody comes. I know I might sound like a cry baby, but I worked really hard on my shop and it was really frustrating and disgruntling when no one showed and they couldn't have ven posted to say "good luck with you shop" and stuffs like that. I just needed a way to get it out there, and ask what I had done wrong. Did I break a rule or something? I just don't know.... |
The best way to get customers in an art shop is to advertise advertise advertise. You've got a link in your signature, which is a great start. Now you just have to be sure that you're active enough on the boards, making other people see it. If I see you around enough, at some point I'm going to think "Hey, I should drop by that place..."
If you need people to help keep your thread on the front page, enlist a few friends to chat now-and-then. Maybe give them free art is they promise to post a fee times per week. Then I'm sure they'll gladly hang around. And if their friends see them there, and their friends see them there...It's a whole cycle. Don't let it get you down, especially if the shop is relatively new. You have to give yourself some time to build up an audience. =) |
A thing or two that might help: thumbnails, or link the pictures via text.
You can tell if people are looking because it will tell you how many visits there have been. Polls also help you keep track. :) Best of luck! |
Well, maybe if you put something in the shop about wanting people to chat with you/wish you good luck, they will come. I don't think you're alone in not having people come to your shop though. When I started one, very few people came through. The way I got people to buy was by offering very low prices. I think some people are intimidated by haggling...at least I am.
But don't feel like people are being rude to you on purpose...I mean, you probably don't go to every single art shop to chat with them and wish them good luck right? But it's not like you're not going in them as an insult, you're just spending your time on other things. |
To Knerd: Thanks I think I might post arounf a little bit more but I don't really know where.
To ScarletStratholme: Thanks to you to. But I don't quite know what you mean by "...thumbnails, or link the pictures via text." To juniper_silver: I'll do that. And I don't have set prices. Just a "Recommend Price" section on the form I made for people to fill out. |
I generally hang around a thread for about an hour, if it doesn't open up then I'll leave and probably not return. And to get interest in an art shop, show me samples!
A ink to your art shop is fine, but if you don't have an image very few people will click. Unless they know you anyway. |
To Jayms_fallen_angel: Hrm, it did take me a day or two to open the shop. I do have samples in there but the sample in my signature never came to me before. Let me see if I can fit something in there. Thankies <333

^ That picture is actually a bit too big for a signature.
All sigs must be under 350 pixels tall, and that one is 379. It's a little technicality, but it has to be enforced. Perhaps you could crop it a bit more? |
oops >.< I'll crop it some more then. I did think it looked a little big...
|
*cough* sounds like my quest thread >.<
I'd recommend maybe making the link into a banner...since most people (at least I do) skip over links... whereas I stop to admire most of the pictures ^^ I'll post though ^^ |
omgs I love you Kaze-bear *hugs tightly* though the only banner making place I know of is My Banner Maker.Com o3o...and I's not so good. Well It's good an all but I dunno. Sometimes its just not the thing I wanna use...
