And what i mean by that is are you the type of person who is like. " I don't want these people on the internet to know nothing about my real life or even see me, type of person. Or. " Meh they will find out sooner or later its not like we actually have privacy on the internet."
For me i was the scared person when i was younger, but now i really don't care and thats not saying i will let people know where i live exactly, card information, ect. I'm just not so secretive as i use to be. For example, wanna see a picture of me? Its in the photo forum, what state do i live in? Illinois. ect, ect. Because to me in reality people, if curious enough ( or stalkers) Will find out about you someway because everything is connected. Again for example. I use to go on this site when i was younger and very secretive and this guy found me through my msn to my facebook....So thats how i feel about it NOW lol. What are you guys feelings on internet privacy? And what type of internet person are you?

Actually, when I was younger I think I shared my full name and what state I lived pretty easily. Which may have not been the best idea for a 12-13 yr old.. XD But now, I don't really mind sharing the state that I live and my name. I do share my phone and address with close online friends, those I've been with for like 7 years lolll. So we can send each other things XD We also are connected through FB too.
For type, I'm not really sure. I think I'm definitely more talkative online than IRL. I am more emotional and outgoing too? XD
It's hard to personify my online character but my thoughts aren't fake or anything. I just say everything I think of and it's easier to sort out my thoughts when I'm not being stared at lol. I have pretty bad communication skills IRL...unless it's a close friend!

Lol well i guess it doesn't matter who knew your name at 12-13 what could they do with a 13 year olds name XD I actually didn't want to share my phone number but facebook tricked me into sharing it XD But its kool i mean they can't really do anything with my phone number and its only on facebook. Oh thats awesome! Its nice that your long online friends and you like to send each other gifts and that is fine to me. What would be weird is if you shared it with everyone XD
Oh i so understand what you are coming from on that. Its like right now actually, i can sit here and figure out what im going to say and no one is looking at me waiting for my reply lol. Im the type of person who got to sit there and figure out what im going to say next and its a whole lot easier online then in real life hahahaha.

I'm not sure I have an internet type. I'm very much the same online as I am in RL, other people have said this, this isn't something I've decided. You take me as you find me, and if you don't like what you find then that's your problem >< I'm not more or less anything just because I'm online.
Of course there's been a learning curve to traverse to reach this enlightened nirvana, lol. But that's the same with anything in life. One thing that I've learnt about myself is that I unconsciously reflect the way someone is towards me back at them. Combine that with the common internet trait of negative emotions getting magnified and that can be a problem, simply because I'm less likely to react to negativity with negativity of my own in a face-to-face environment(because I'm not confrontational). But at the same time, online you have that breathing space while you type out a response, and the option to not hit submit, lol,so I guess that generally balances itself out.

I only share my photos and the country that I live online.
Only close friends that I know in real life can get my address, phone number, etc.
I'm much more open online. Probably because I can join topics and sites that I have a huge interest. Plus, I don't have to worry too much about judgement.

No pre-judgment is the biggest lifter of inhibitions online, I'm sure. It really allows people to become friends with a far wider range of people than they'd even get to know in the flesh. Hopefully should have opened the eyes of a wide range of people to how prejudiced we can all be by what we see, even if we don't realise.

I have been on tumblr since 2011 and I still feel like I blog there in a completely stilted way. Why this is I have no idea. It drives me nuts. Am I self conscious? Does it feel too exposing? Do I not know how to interact with people? Probably the latter.

I can understand that though, I mean all I really ever do on Tumblr is reblog. I'll post my current avatar when I remember (linking back here of course ) but I've never posted anything personal. Just the thought fills me with horror to be honest >< It is just too personal, apart from those of you on here who follow me I don't know who these people are, and the idea of talking about personal stuff to true strangers is mortifying.

I have (not counting my username on here) have one other alias I still use, and I occasionally share my first name and age. My limits are my birth month and day and my middle name, which I seldom share. I would definitely say I am secretive, as I have never even posted a picture of my face under any of my aliases.

@Kiara: Thanks ;D
I am a secretive person in some ways. But even when I want to interact with people, I seem to come up against a wall. I think upon reflection though that it might be the format. It's fast moving and things can get disjointed there. You can't posts don't just fall casually one after another. Tone can't easily be established.
Plus I'm an awkward turtle.

I feel I'm different online.
I hardly post pictures of myself, and I'm thinking of deleting my fb.
I don't use it, so I'll just get rid of it.

Avatar sites, I try not to give too much info, but if I've talked to you for a while, I'm alright.

I am a combination of internet identities gathered into one person. I enjoy lurking and reading other people's comments on various subjects, but I won't deny the fact that it isn't difficult to find things about people just by their e-mail. I try not to think about it too much because it scares me a bit. NPR had a podcast on privacy. The speaker they brought in said that Google knows more intimate information about people than their best friends or even lovers know. I thought that was kind of freaky. I guess the way to avoid that would be not to use google or at least use it on a computer that is not your own. So I end up being a lurker. Occasionally engaging in a deeper conversation. I tend to talk much more on Menewsha than I used to on gaia.

A troll... Wait what was the question?
Oh I don't care too much about the whole privacy thing. That sort of stuff is just too easy for those who want to know to figure out. If people ask I usually tell, or they can find out. Name is not something I give out quickly. But folks know where I work, I invite folks to bother me at work! I figure the more people know the easier it will be to bother them in RL if I crash their hometown during my travels.

Tacgnol!
I'm super duper shy IRL, but I'm a crazy extroverted party animal on the Internet! I don't reveal who I am IRL, though. I've known people who were crazy about that and insisted on calling me a real name instead of my username. That annoys me so much‼ I set up a username for a reason. I design a character however I want instead of by my real appearance for a reason. I want to be dissociated with my real self by both myself and other people!
/BTW, I gave a fake name

I try to keep a lot of personal details to myself, like where I live and stuff, because I really don't want hordes of people banging down my door. But there are certain things I do say online that I don't say elsewhere. I'm typically not very talkative offline and that was one of the things I took with me when I first starting coming online, because I didn't think people would want to talk to me. Now there are times where I can't seem to shut up.
Also on sites like Mene, my avatars sometimes wears dresses/skirt when offline I probably own one dress/skirt.

When I first started going online, I was really outgoing and would talk to just about anyone. I never told people real personal details, because I was 12, but I would tell them what state I lived in. I lied about my age all the time, and loved coming up with usernames. I always acted more or less like myself, but I did experiment with how I presented myself to people.
As I got older, in some ways I got more shy, and in other ways not. I have a hard time diving into new forums or chats the way I used to. I talk about my offline life more freely, but I'm also more concerned about internet privacy (mostly with sites like google or facebook.) Everything is so interconnected now, and there are traces of me all over the internet; I use the same names everywhere so it would not be hard to find out exactly who I am. It makes me kinda uncomfortable, but it's my own fault. Sometimes I wish I could fire-bomb my entire internet history and start totally fresh, with new accounts just on the few sites I care about and everything else erased. No such luck though.
