@ Vox - Oh that would be very confusing...
For me it's moreso that I don't remember people very well except for shapes and small unimportant details

@Poet: Haha, sometimes it's even a little awkward when, for instance, you're kissing your significant other and they suddenly change into your younger sister. o_o

Hm, what small, unimportant details? Now I'm curious as what this looks like...

Oh gosh that would be awful...
Well sort of like how in a game when a person is just a black outline while it loads them. Then details like clothing and stuff
But no matter what the face is always black.

At least it's just in dreams that that can happen. It would be completely intolerable in real life.

Ahh, I see. That's almost a little frightening. I would be terrified of a person in my dream whose face was blacked out. But I guess you're used to seeing people like that.

@Vox thank you for encouraging Wolfie! Wolfie has been working hard every night so far,but so far not much progress. She has tried a new approach-thinking of something rather simple that could be easily controlled. Before Wolfie falls asleep, she thinks hard about bouncing a basket ball. She imagines the feel of it,the sound, the smell.Wolfie thinks that perhaps if she dreams of the ball, she may be able to focus on it and control it.Thoughts?

@Wolf: That is a really good idea! If you pick an object that comes up in your dreams often already (if such an object exists), you might experience success even more quickly. But I think a basketball will work. Just keep concentrating on it like you are, and it will likely appear in your dream, hopefully as a cue that you're dreaming as well as an object to practice control on! Best of luck! I can't wait to hear if it works for you!

@Poet: Ah, then that explains it! xD

Well given I never look people in the eyes I don't know the eye color of any more than 1 or 2 people.

That's interesting! I really like eyes, so I get familiar with eye colors pretty quickly. If nothing else, I at least know whether someone's eyes are dark or light after the first time I meet them. But with anyone I know well, I could tell you the color of their eyes right down to a specific shade. My partner is slightly heterochromic (one solid brown eye and one brown eye with specks of green), and he tells me I am the only person who ever noticed it. He didn't even believe me at first and tried telling me it must be the lighting!

Lucid dreaming sounds terrifying and I will never induce it purposefully on myself. I've heard so many stories where they have gone wrong.

Whenever my body wants to move to see if I'm awake I'll move it within a heartbeat. D:

Wolfie is having more trouble than ever remembering her dreams! They just disappear when she waked up.Although last night Wolfie had a dream and she remembered a snatch of it.It was that Gieco commercial with Dracula at a blood drive, except it ended differently, with the man running away and Dracula chasing him.Wolfie will continue to try with the basketball, though. And perhaps study about lucid dreaming.

@Poet: Eyes are ick? I don't follow.

@Wonderlands: Hmm, would you mind sharing some of those stories? I don't really understand; what's the worst that can happen?

@Wolf: I tend to go though phases where I remember my dreams for weeks at a time and then not remember them for several more weeks, and so on. Lately I've been waking up to an alarm clock which pretty much guarantees I'll forget any dream I was having. I think you'll get it though; you seem pretty determined, and that's all it really takes!

Funny, I would think lights and music would be more likely to help you realize you're asleep and make you lucid. I have actually used music in that way.

@Darkness: The three major parts of the brain are the cerebrum, which controls your mental tasks like reasoning, the cerebellum, which aids in physical tasks like balance, and the medulla oblongata, which controls your autonomic (involuntary) functions like heartbeat and reflexes. It is located at the brainstem.

@Shadami: But there wasn't any actual water! That's so weird. :P

It would be cool to have vivid and realistic dreams. Though if I did, I might not be able to lucid dream as easily, so I guess I'm happy with them the way they are, haha.
That's probably why i have a hard time doing any actual lucid dreaming... hmmm good point.

I would love to try it sometime. But i have such awesome adventures when i'm dreaming that i never want to change them.

Wolfie is VERY determined. She spent her whole life remembering her dreams,so not remembering is a bit disconcerting. However, last night,Wolfie made huge progress. She had read up on lucid dreaming and decided to start a dream journal. She dreamed, and woke up in the middle of the night, remembered the dream, then fell back asleep-only to experience the continuation of the dream! At the end of the dream,Wolfie became lucid with just enough time to realize that she had had a full two-part dream, then the dream faded. The problem is,when Wolfie next woke up,she forgot to write down the dream! Now all she can remember is a vague image of a gigantic full moon and the very sure knowledge that it was a two part dream-which Wolfie has never had before.

sooo, I'm waaay too lazy to read this whole thread right now, but I will share with you my freaking awful lucid dreaming experience. Basically, I can sometimes realize I am asleep, and I can control myself. However I can only do things I think I can do in real life, I can't fly or anything. I can't control the setting, and the setting is always some kind of hell or nightmare world. No one talks to me, and mostly everyone and everything is trying to kill me. I don't feel pain in them, just pressure, like if I get stabbed, I feel my muscle pop, and leak like a water balloon. I'm not scarred because I know it is a dream, I'm mostly just frustrated that even knowing it is a dream and that I could POTENTIALLY do anything I wanted, the only thing my subconscious seems to want to do is murder me.

@Feralprince That could be a sign that your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Meanwhile,Wolfie made another huge progress leap! Wolfie had one of her recurring dreams, and managed to write it down when she woke up.Now Wolfie remembers the whole dream! A few elements of the dream changed from the usual, but Wolfie has noticed a repeating pattern that revealed itself in this dream as well: Reading.Letters,documents,music,books...Wolfie seems to be reading A LOT in her dreams lately.Perhaps because she is currently reading a series? Except the letters are always different. In one dream,Wolfie was reading a music sheet, and the lyrics were all pictures of animals! But Wolfie understood it as if they were words.

@Shadami: Well, that's awesome. Lucid dreaming is cool for making your dreams awesome, but if they already are, what's the point?

@Prince: That sounds really unpleasant... Are you lucid most of the time? Someone else in this thread suggested daydreaming for practice. Maybe you should practice exerting more control over the elements of your daydreams, and that might help you change your dreams to something less horrific. :/

@Wolf: That is awesome! I knew your hard work would pay off eventually! So tell me all about it! Was it the basketball? Or the words changing?

Unfortunately, I haven't shared your luck. I have become lucid three times this week, and each time, I immediately woke myself up by accident before I had a chance to try anything. ><

It was so cool! See,Wolfie had done some research and started doing "dream checks" during the day,so that eventually it would happen in a dream.Well last night,Wolfie was dreaming and suddenly did a dream check. She did a double take when she realized it was a dream! Then Wolfie saw a clock, and noticed it was counting quickly, and for some reason it was important that Wolfie did something before a certain time. Then Wolfie thought "Hey,this is a dream.Time doesn't matter in a dream." And just like that, the clock started going backwards!! It was a short dream, but so vivid, and it was the first time Wolfie ever controlled her dream.Wolfie can't wait to try again tonight! Maybe the basketball will appear this time!

That's awesome, Wolfie! Haha I should try doing dream checks more often. It just feels really silly most of the time because it's obvious to me when I am not dreaming, so I have no reason to ask myself if I am. xD It's great that you were able to change the clock though. And now you have a good place to start in future dreams!

*Jumps up and down* Wolfie is really happy about it! She read that doing dream checks during the day will train your subconscious so that eventually you'll do one in a dream.Wolfie figured, might as well, right? And it worked! Now Wolfie wants to try bigger things. Her ultimate goal for the short term is to fully control a flying dream.

lol just today Wolfie was helping her dad get the A/C inside, and while they were in the garage Wolfie spotted a basketball! It was such a coincidence that Wolfie immediately did a dream check to make sure!

Woo, good luck with the flying dream! I'm sure you can do it! If I can get back into lucid dreaming, my goal is to successfully blank a dream and fully create a new scene. Every time I've tried, I've woken up instead. :/

Haha that's awesome. xD Maybe you should use more objects as cues, so you'll do even more dream checks.
