@ Chi : Well, the main role of the godparents here is that they're supposed to guide you and help you as you grown up, so that you will become a good Christian and human being and etc. They're mainly chosen for guidance and support.

But, it's also the godparents' job to take care of you when your parents are dead, but umm, usually that particular bit is decided by your parents' through their will/s. If there's no will, then yeah, the godparents should take responsibility. But they're not the only ones, since the brothers and sisters of your parents also can take charge depending on the circumstances. But, that's another story right there~ xDD;
