I've been trying to campaign for about two or three weeks to find someone, anyone in my (San Francisco) area who is going down there because there is at least one panel every day I would like to attend... Supernatural, Torchwood, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, even a sneak peak at the Supernatural Anime... I would be in heaven... but I happen to have a rule that I never go to conventions (especially one as massive as San Diego Comic Con) alone the first time. Safety and comfort in numbers, y'know?
Crow, I would greatly encourage you to go by yourself if you can't find anyone, but at the same time, I know how you feel. Were there any amazing cons like that in my area, I still probably wouldn't go without someone to go with... But it's not even an issue for me, since the nearest con is Naka Kon, but that's still like 3-4 hours from me, and just... not worth it. Comic Con is sadly something that I will likely never see. I might be able to go to MomoCon someday, though. But, ugh, Comic Con is more suited to my not-at-all-into-anime/manga-ever tastes. And now a ton of shows and sites and such that I like are posting on facebook about how they'll be at Comic Con doing awesome stuff. Nnnngggg.
[/whine]
Biggles - Holy damn, that Beetlejuice one is creepy. Ugh, it gets creepier the more I look at it. Ugh. Is that supposed to be Lydia?! She was a little girl. :gonk: Some of the others are really cool, though.
EDIT: AWW, YEAH, DWIGHT!
EDIT2: Doctor Who Gn'R. Nyeee.

I agree with Cherry. Though I myself admitted it sounded overwhelming, I think that if there are things on offer that really do strike your fancy, you should make an effort to get there, even alone. Heck, it might be fortifying long term to brave something like that yourself.
I wish that the BBC would make more of a showing at Dragon*Con. They usually have the British Track- but it is rare that they get people to speak at the panels. Which is a little bit sad.
Biggles - True, and by yourself you do have more of an opportunity to see everything you want to, instead of you and you friend arguing over which place to go. Fewer photo opportunities, but I'm sure all the nerds* there are friendly enough to take a picture for you if you ask nicely. But I'd really want to go with someone. Preferably a male with shortish dark hair. Dressing as Donna Noble is just dressing plainly if you don't have a Doctor!
Ha, the author of the Eccleston article needs to reconnect with reality or clearly state any comments are his opinion only before making such outlandish statements about Eccleston's career and acting ability.
I think about going to Collectormania Glasgow every year but it's more a case of paying for the autographs/photos you want and then leaving than a convention.
Kat- Yeah I too was a bit put off by his broad sweeping statements. I though Eccleston was a good Who and I can totally understand why he wanted to quit- especially if he wasn't into public parties and what not. Some people just don't get along- that is just how it is. I thought he went out (as the Doctor) with style. Fantastic!
That list is surprisingly long o___O
But, for whatever reason, Harry Potter and Doctor Who go together in my head, and I like them both, so I'm happy :ninja:
Biggles - I can't tell whether you're knocking how they look now or if you just haven't seen them yet... Since you're not known to be particularly catty in that form, I'll guess the latter. But then, there was one in the mid-season finale and I thought you saw that. OH, I DON'T KNOW. JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE?
Less like a statue made by a 5 year old, more like an actual alien thing.
Also, the list only further supports my (only semi-serious) theory that every major English work has someone who was or will be at one point involved in Doctor Who.
Also also, here is some hipster doctor who for everyone because it is late and so I find it funny.
Kind of season 5 or 6 spoilers. Not really, but kind of.X
Also³
and some definite season 6 midseason finale spoilersX
Must go to bed. Must stop image vomiting on you all. Just go here. But especially this post because it makes me laugh so much I can't laugh.

I haven't seen all of it yet. I haven't had that kind of leisure time lately. I'd say proportionally, I've seen more Original Who than Reboot Who, and the old school Sontarans are part of my knowledge of the Original.
Yeah, the crossover isn't all that surprising. If you take the BBC as a microcosm, you'll see that there's really something of a small stable of established actors, and they will keep popping up time and time again, across the genres.
Biggles - No, but I think you've used some well placed sarcasm/other forms of humor that are sort of similar to sarcasm but whose names I cannot think of right now because it's 3 AM bye bye vocabulary oh commas you've let me too then have you? My question mark will never leave me though.
This is why I'm a teetotaler. Could you imagine me drunk?
Alright, that is a pretty rockin' bookshelf/VHS case. (Those are VHS in there, aren't they... old school.)
Biggles- I have noticed that the same actor keep popping up over and over in various BBC shows. I figured they just sort of had their 'studio' actors- like the old movie studios did back in the day. It has never really bothered my to see actors in one show pop up in another. Though, some of the differences can be jarring-; especially when I happen to be watching two shows at once and they have the same main characters in them.
Yeah, looks like VHS. And it is fun how almost every established British actor has been in Doctor Who, or is somehow connected to it. Though not too surprising either, seeing how many actors you need for all the different episodes and considering the length of the series..
