Hi there June and welcome! :)

Yah I hate mosquitoes. They're horrible little things that carry an array of different diseases. Plus their bite marks make you itch like mad. :|

June 08-12-2009 11:24 PM

And they're not too pretty either. :P

So is everybody enjoying the event so far?

Izumi 08-13-2009 01:17 AM

I'm loving the event, June! I have gotten a ton of pretty event commons and so far gotten all the event items released. I really hope we can feed the star eater and get the 7th event item. I really want to see it!!

June 08-13-2009 01:35 AM

I'm just trying to save enough stars to buy all the event items. This event requires soooo many! D8

Izumi 08-13-2009 01:39 AM

I haven't had too much of a problem getting stars. Of course I try to perform and petition the goddess every chance I get and I've been posting here and there. Perhaps I have a little extra time though than some to take part in it. For those getting multiple sets I bet it's been difficult. I guess it's a fine balance trying to make sure that everyone who wants a set gets one, but they don't have people hoarding 4 or 5 sets a piece, therefore driving down the actual value of them. :|

June 08-13-2009 01:44 AM

ultimately I'd just rather have a set than, well, not. :|

Izumi 08-13-2009 01:25 PM

Yah understood....I was worried I wouldn't get one myself given everything going on. :| Luckily though I've been able to keep on top of it and get the item every day. Since it's harder than previous events to get items, I'm glad that I've been able to do it myself rather than purchase or have a friend try to get one for me.

June 08-14-2009 12:10 AM

i think i'm gonna make enough stars to get them all. so far i'm up to 110 stars and the total required for all the event items (including the bonus) is 245 stars. hopefully i can manage it...

Caroline 08-14-2009 01:20 PM

Good luck with the stars, June! I'm still trying to get a set too. I only have 128 stars right now. D:

Izumi 08-14-2009 01:22 PM

I just need to get the 30 stars for the Star Eater's item now. That shouldn't be a tall order for me.

I've been trying to get this pocket pc to connect to my internet but it just seems like I can't install the driver on Vista. I'm finding more and more reasons to hate Windows. :|

Other than that I'm doing alright. I'm getting sick of the sibling bickering going on between the stepkids though. About ready to bash some heads in. :P (Not literally, of course)

Caroline 08-14-2009 02:20 PM

My problem is [as you can see] that I always pop on and post, and then I get distracted with something else, haha. >_<

Awh :( Try restarting your computer and trying to connect your pocket PC again? I've found that restarting solves a lot of problems in Vista... no idea why. Windows really is getting to be problematic; I've considered getting a Mac, but I am just so used to Windows. Plus, I have yet to buy my own laptop; my dad gives me his old ones because he is constantly getting new ones with his teacher's discount.

I can't imagine it's pleasant to listen to kids argue this early, heh.

Izumi 08-14-2009 02:29 PM

Well I have officially given up trying to get it to work. I have relentlessly tried since about 5pm yesterday to get it up and running and now I have packed it up and stopped looking at it. It is a friend's who's trying to sell it but I can't seem to get it to do much of anything. It's the most un-userfriendly thing I've ever seen. :sarcasm:

I think what I might do now is stuff around the house and socialize on Mene a little bit to finish my collecting. I think we're going to be busy over the weekend so today might be my last chance. :insane:

Yah the kids are still bickering between the two of them and it's taken them over 45mins to make their beds....and they're still not done. I'm going to leave that to them though as that should be their responsibility. If they complain after that though that they're bored, I'm going to find work around the house they can help me do! They won't be complaining anymore!!

Caroline 08-14-2009 02:37 PM

I seee, lame. Have you tried googling the problem?

I'm about to go off and pack in a little bit. I've been visiting family in Taiwan, and I go back to California tomorrow, so today is my last day for the event as well. I'm excited to go home, but hell if I feel like stuffing everything back into my suitcase.

Haha! That's a way to quiet them down.

Angel Spirit Girl 08-15-2009 02:03 AM

I hope you are all doing well with the event. ^.^

I managed to get a set.

I wonder if I can get a second set.

Izumi 08-15-2009 01:56 PM

I have tried googling to find the driver for the card and also to try and make sure all the software is up to date. I think part of my problem is that the driver software for the ethernet card isn't compatible with vista. Not to mention the pocket pc is one of the most un-user friendly pieces of equipment I've ever worked with. I finally packed it up and gave up on it. I spent hours trying to get it to work with no avail. :(

-pokes her nose in-

Elmira Swift 08-17-2009 02:45 PM

- waves hello to everyone - My class was canceled today so I'm home minus the kids. Did some grocery shopping and plan on taking care of a few things before retrieving rugrats.

How are things going with y'all?

Izumi 08-17-2009 04:01 PM

I finally got hubby to test out the A/C. I'm loving it!

Other than that I had to go to the unemployment agency for a drop in session to turn in some paperwork. I'm trying to get registered for their two year school program. They'll pay for tuition and books for me to go to school for 2 years. :D

That and it's stepdaughter's bday. She got a $25 dollar gift certificate to Fashion Bug from grandma and also Pokemon Diamond from us. I don't think we're doing much else special because unfortunately we're pretty poor right now. Well not technically, but once we pay the bills we will be...:| Ah well I have AC now and a nice new home.

Elmira Swift 08-17-2009 05:03 PM

That's awesome! Have you been looking into programs at schools? Anything in particular catching your eye?

Izumi 08-17-2009 06:29 PM

Well I haven't actually looked past the possible list of jobs that will be in demand list, but so far I'm leaning towards something in Human Services or studying to be a Paralegal.

It kinda sucks as I had an appointment on Thursday to meet with an adviser and do some more entry tests, but since hubby got called into work I'm going to have to beg a neighbor or friend to help or try to reschedule. I tried to leave a message with the adviser hoping she had an open slot on Friday to go. I really hope she can pencil me in. I kind of have babysitting duties the next three days as well so if I do go I have to find someone to watch the kids. :/

Thoth Star 08-17-2009 06:43 PM

Hey everyone~

Have fun Izumi... I work at a daycare center... Its kinda fun being surrounded by crazy kids... They make up the strangest games. xD

Izumi 08-17-2009 07:01 PM

Haha they say some of the strangest things too! :XD

We'll figure it out somehow...definitely need the money so I'm not dreading it. :XD

Elmira Swift 08-17-2009 09:22 PM

Always hard to find sitters, but the daycare our son is in is pretty cool. They do seem to be dealing with some staff turnover, and that's bugging me a bit.

Izumi - I have no clue what the job market looks like for human resorces/services or paralegal right now. If you can find a proram that offers employment services and can prove that they are successful at placing people, that would be pretty cool. Good luck!

Izumi 08-17-2009 11:29 PM

Thanks Elmira!! I'll need it!

I think I might of found a babysitter for the kids - our neighbor said she'd have to check but as long as she isn't busy. I don't know how I'll get up there though if she can't reschedule...right now we have one car and I'm sort of missing my license. I'm going to need to get it here shortly though if I'm going back to school, but I don't think I can get it in time for Thursday. Otherwise, I'm sure hubby could carpool then.

I'm hoping she can reschedule. It'd make it a lot easier on everyone. :|

Other than that I'm doing alright. We took stepdaughter out for dinner and I ate way too much. I had to lay down when we got in as I felt pretty sick to my stomach. Figured I might as well get my money's worth. It's an over priced all you can eat buffet...I wouldn't normally go there, but the kids love it. I'm kinda against buffets. I'd rather get quality over quantity.

Elmira Swift 08-18-2009 09:24 PM

It's really easy to do that at buffets! Which is why my portly middle-aged butt avoids them!

Can I just say it ain't easy lose weight after a pregnancy in your 40s??
