I have to save my money so what I am doing for Christmas is I am going to be makign 3 types of jam and putting them in baskets for everyone for Christmas. c: I spent 60 bucks last Christmas buying presents for everyone, 12 siblings included. -.-'

xnozomichanx 11-16-2009 02:27 AM

Holy crap that's a lot of siblings, (as I'm sure you're aware  ) and 60 bucks isn't that much..... Jam huh?.....Hmn, jam has me thinking jars... maybe I'll test to see which cookies taste good and just measure out the dry ingredients into jars... Or is that too lazy?

PaintTheSkyRed 11-16-2009 04:46 PM

Well 60 bucks about every 3 people is a lot. -.-' And yes, jam. And no I don't think that is lazy. They have decorative jars at crafts stores and for Christmas as an extra gift to my bestfriends I made homemade hot cocoa recipe and put it into the jars with a bow on top as a gift. c:

Tigermirage 11-16-2009 05:31 PM

Cookies in a jar are a great idea! We do a cookie exchange every year, everybody picks a kind of cookie and makes a dozen per person then they all swap them and you end up with lots of different kinds but only had to bake one. And it makes alot of people happy.

Wow that is alot of siblings! Is jam hard to make?
Jam would be a great gift, i might just try that, thanks!

shaddowkitty 11-16-2009 07:04 PM

i have missed something o3o
I gave everyone a 10$ limit on xmas gifts this year, i'll be lucky if i only spend 150, considering how many people there are -sigh- and shipping costs.... if only I had money x[
maybe i should make it like a 5$ limit....

PaintTheSkyRed 11-17-2009 12:03 AM

Jam isn't really hard to make but slightly time consuming. For the apricot jam the dried apricots have to soak for 24 hours and then when you make the jam it takes about an hour to make but sometimes more since having to sterilize the jars in boiling water.

Oh, I thought you meant that you only spent $60 on more than 12 people, which I thought was pretty good. I don't know how to make homemade hot cocoa :(

I wouldn't want to share the cookies I got XD

I'm still undecided on whether or not I'm getting presents for family only or if I'll get some for some friends (we haven't talked or seen each other much :/ ) Plus I'm not sure about how to go about making cookies because my father is diabetic, and I don't want him to be left out :/

PaintTheSkyRed 11-17-2009 11:10 PM

Well the recipe for the homemade hot cocoa I will post soon. It is a powder so it is cute in the jars even if they are clear. It looks like hot cocoa powder but you make it yourself.

xnozomichanx 11-18-2009 12:58 AM

I'm excited to see the recipe, though I wonder what category it should go under o.O?

Tigermirage 11-18-2009 04:22 AM

For diabetic cookie recipes, my dad really enjoys these!

Hmmn... maybe I should use the reserved post for beverages...but you also raise the point of condiments/dressings....

I am ashamed to say that I never really thought of that

PaintTheSkyRed 11-20-2009 05:57 AM

I have done that before, Shaddowkitty but this way my friends could preserve it longer so I made a powder form. c:

And I think it goes under Condiments. Thats my opinion.

xnozomichanx 11-21-2009 05:06 AM

I just made a condiments/beverages section to play it safe =3

PaintTheSkyRed 11-26-2009 03:14 AM

shaddowkitty 11-26-2009 03:56 AM

Driving up mountains suck, a lot. But thankfully I'm moving back into a valley, not the one where I grew up, but a valley (yays) What's the temp in NC? Here in PA it's currently 48 degrees, but I'm used to it. I can't really imagine NC being cold ;)

PaintTheSkyRed 11-26-2009 04:16 AM

Its 40 degrees outside right now on the temp. And its suppose to get down to 30 tomorrow night. So its really cold. I am not kidding. Lol

shaddowkitty 11-26-2009 04:44 AM

paint: i have no idea where that is lol
but yeah
it's going to be mad wicked when it starts to snow here, i'm afraid of that.

nozo: I think it's a lot easier to drive in the mountains now that i've done it for a while lol
I miss michigan
i had to drive on about 6 inches of packed snow, but it was still fun.

I just hate how stresses my car out some. In Pennsylvania, snow means the potholes are mostly filled, so the driving isn't as... bouncy, to say the least. Although potholes are a great anti-hydroplaning tool, generally ^^;

PaintTheSkyRed 11-26-2009 05:07 AM

Potholes suck. Lol I am off to bed. Good night.

xnozomichanx 11-27-2009 04:06 AM

Yes they do suck. I'd like to know where my taxes are going >> Though the patch jobs they do sometimes... just make it 10x worse, but patch jobs means they can come back, so my mother and I think it might be a form of job security, though we could be wrong, and boy do I hope we are. Otherwise someone's going to get beat up some.
So, putting roads aside XD how was your thanksgiving?
