Neither of us particularly enjoy visiting family or having family visit. There's always questions that we don't care to answer; at first it was about when we were going to finish school and start a career, then it was about having babies and now it's about going back to school and starting careers!
*points to self* Me? "Awesome looking" avatar? O _ O
Gee, thanks. I don't even have a plan for it or anything except make it Halloween-y to fulfill my obsession for the holiday. XD

@ zomichan - Sorry to hear about your school troubles. We're in the same sort of boat. I'm in a university also right now and not doing so hot myself. I started having trouble with my Gen-Ed classes and caused my GPA to drop slightly below the required quota for taking classes in my major. I stayed here for a bit over the summer to re-take a class that I did poorly in to replace it for a higher one, which I did, but unfortunately I received a B instead of an A...which would have raised my GPA back up enough and let me take my major's classes. I am now only one measly point away from taking upper level classes, but it's frustrating.
I'm also having trouble deciding whether or not I'm in the right major. I applied for my school's art program when I first applied, but months later after I was wait-listed they informed me in a letter that they didn't have any more room for me. So not having a Plan B, I applied for the major of Creative Advertising. It sounded like a next best choice. I took a few beginner classes in my major as a Freshman but they didn't tell me much about what I could do with it. I later had an argument with my Mother after I considered re-applying for the art school. She is worried that an art career wouldn't make enough money for me to be healthy and happy (but then again she also thought that I still wanted to make Mangas for the rest of my life  ). I understood why she was upset, but I was also jealous of my friends that were actually a part of the art school. They were actually learning how to make things while I was stuck with math problems that I was not going to use (at least very often) in my life.

Sigh.... I'm a little more hopeful about my major now. I'm doing small pieces of research about it as well as trying to get into an art class that I don't have to be a part of the art school to sign up for, so I can see if I want to actually re-apply to be a part of it. My friends also support me by telling me that I don't have to be in the art major to make things or be in an art-related career.
That makes me smile. :)

*looks at all of the paragraphs* ...Whoa, did I actually write all of that? < <;;
I never knew I could rant so much. I hope I get a lot of gold for this.

Wow! Surely that post must have been therapeutic for you! :XD But thank you for sharing with us. :D

What is it that you want to do with art?

That's my other problem- I have no idea.

I like so many things about art. I like drawing, but I'm not that great at it. I really enjoy photography, but I have yet to use or own a professional digital (I only have a film one) camera. I took 2 years of Photography in High School combined with 2 years of Computer Graphics which taught me about using Photoshop. When I hit my Senior year I realized that I missed my non-digital art classes, so I took another year of regular art where I discovered that I enjoyed clay sculpting. We only did it for a couple of class periods, and I only made a small bird, but it really grew on me. I also really enjoy fiction writing, something I consider to be a separate art form.

Anyway, I found in High School that I can't decide where to focus. I wanted to be well-rounded so I took a bit of everything, but now I can't decide what I want to do.

It seems like you should continue exploring your options. It might be that you just haven't found your passion yet in the grand scope of art and artistical endeavors.

no, not really. The holidays are always stressful with my family. Everyone tries so hard to be "normal" and have a good time, but it doesn't work when everyone is so controlling and have conflicting ideas

That sounds really similar to my family and how they treat the holidays. Even still I think my favorite is Halloween because of the costumes and the candy.

I love to dress up and now with a little one to take trick-or-treating there'll be plenty of candy to pass around at Halloween!

hello, and you haven't killed it ^^ it comes back to life, I've lost track of how many times it's been resurrected XD

Though if I had to choose a holiday it would either be Christmas or Halloween. I like getting presents, but I also like getting candy, dressing up and of course, scaring people

Halloween is DEFINITELY my favorite holiday!

It's one of my obsessions. I posted on in the "Holidays?" forum about why I like it so much already, so I'll just quote it instead of writing it in different words all over again.

I live for it! I think about it all year long, always thinking up ideas for the next one. Many say I'm obsessed and I tell them that they are correct. I didn't always know that it was so important to me. But one year, I got older and figured that it probably wouldn't be such a good idea to go Trick-Or-Treating anymore when I was taller than everyone in my neighborhood that still went around the street collecting candy. So my neighbor invited me to come give out candy, but also work the fog machine from inside the house. I wore a (very BAD) cosplay-ish costume of Ayeka from Tenchi Muyo, but that's not the point (and I'm never doing that again). I saw people react to the fog when I turned it on right as they stood near it. And suddenly it hit me:

I. LOVE. TO. SCARE. :insane:

It was one of the greatest feelings I had ever felt before.
I never scare small children of course, but the bigger ones are fair game. >8D

Ever since then, when my neighbor isn't too busy, I go over to her house on Halloween to scare the absolute CRAP out of people. She comes up with the theme since it's her house, but I never care as long as I can do something. One year, she was too busy to do anything so I got the idea to dress up like a scarecrow, complete with face-paint resembling a pumpkin's face, in the front yard and stand still until after the visitors collect their goodies, then POUNCE! It became one of my fondest memories. = w =
Especially since one boy ran away from me in fear, but later came back with his parents. From what I could hear, his parents didn't believe his story about being chased by a scarecrow so he wanted to show them. I grinned to myself and got an idea. I just stood still, no matter what he did. He was too scared to come very close to me anyway. So his parents still didn't believe him and started to leave. But as they all turned around I moved very slowly, turned to face the boy and waved. I went back to my "innocent prop" routine as the boy screamed to his parents, "THERE! IT MOVED! DID YOU SEE?!" Apparently, they did not see me turn around, which was not my intention, but it made it all the more priceless. XD

This year, my neighbor says she wants to do an Alice in Wonderland theme. I asked to be my favorite character, the Cheshire Cat, and she said that I could.

I can't wait! ;)

I usually just do little pranks on my sister. One time I dressed in all black, had the hood on my hoodie pulled up so it covered part of my forehead, and waited in the dark on the stairs to the basement with my shoulders hunched over, and then I had my mom send her to the basement to get some laundry. She was so scared that when she went to step backwards out of shock she fell XD she still hasn't forgiven me ^^
