Garfield minus Garfield is kind of like looking in on Jon's cell. It's downright depressing. That man needs a friend.

If there were three or more, it wouldn't make much sense to torment him by cutting them all out of his comic.. Or.. Well, maybe it would still be funny. But I think he'd be the type not to talk much around large groups, or say something idiotic and stay quiet the rest of the time. So it would be like looking at pictures of him listening and making random expressions..

That'd kind of be like Dilbert minus Wally- not a fun concept.
But is Garfield actually Jon's friend? Can he actually talk? Does Jon hear him? I've always wondered.
