@Dante - You can't be confused too! I think she's just confused as to how the French would come to mean such a thing. What verb is used to get that and why?

In french on dit "Ouvert les lumieres et ferme les lumieres" Which means open the lights and close the lights. And since my English is slowly going down the drain and becoming more and more mixed in with french (I have to look some words up in the dictionnaire otherwise they would come out french)

I've seen the same sort of thing with my mother. She's living in Sweden right now and when she calls me on the phone she forgets a lot of her English these days, and she forgets how to use English verb tenses. I think it's funny.

Interesting. I suppose it's a throw back to the days when windows and candles were the only source of light.

Well, things you don't use, like languages, get forgotten. That's why I can't speak French, because outside of classes, I never used it and it's slowly eroded away. Six years of that for nothing.
