@Fuyumi - I am so glad that I was born in American to be strong and stubborn and do whatever the hell I want. So watching girls in anime get stuck in traditional roles or act the way men want them to act drives me bananas. And then you have all these fangirls that are all "Japan is the best place ever and I'm going to live there one day!" Completely ignoring Japan's xenophobia. I mean, Japan is really unique and I totally want to visit some day, but I don't have delusions that it's the best place ever.

My friend is the comic book geek of the two of us.

It seems that even when it's busy, the exchange really isn't that busy. I'm starting to think I'd have better luck getting certain hard to find items by opening up a quest thread and hoping somebody donates them. not that there's many things I want. But I've seen a lot of people rack up a lot of items that way in a short amount of time. Then once they're done, they blow town, which sucks, cause then those items are out of circulation. =/

@Fuyumi - One can hope. It would be nice if they could adjust their views on women without completely wrecking their culture, but some of it seems so integral. I dunno.

It would probably be easier to live there if you could stay with your friend. But you still have to consider a job and all that stuff. NOVA used to be a big source of jobs for foreigners, but now that they've fallen apart, not so sure there's such a demand for English teachers.

@Fuyumi - Well, everything I know about Japan, I learn from manga and anime, but you know when you see the same themes recurring over and over and over, there's got to be some truth to it. So I'm not taking anime and manga as gospel, but I do get the impression that women aren't really used to their fullest potential in the workplace. Any office that makes you wear a uniform and serve coffee obviously isn't going to take you very seriously. And that's if you learn Japanese. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I swear! I'm just practical is all.

I always do my baking at night or in the butt crack of morning around 3am XD
