Alorrena: I still don't understand but ok. Change topic before my girlfriend beats me for saying something stupid.

Li Mei 07-24-2010 03:59 PM

That is a beautiful cake . . . I don't know if I would have the patience to make that.

Baking isn't exactly my forte

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 03:59 PM

Mine's going to be 3 layers.
Two colors a layer, straight colors.
With a cream cheese filling.
And a vanilla butter cream frosting dyed blue.
With white clouds pipped on the blue.

JoshuaBrent 07-24-2010 04:00 PM

Where the hell do you people come up with this stuff? How do you make a cake look like that? Do you dye it after it is made or before?

Li Mei 07-24-2010 04:00 PM

That also sounds like a beautiful cake . . . so much cake talent!

Alorrena 07-24-2010 04:00 PM

Adella, Yummy! Onigiri is sorta hard to shape... I've tried it before. But that soulds really yummy! :)

Brent, Oh, okay. here. The meaning of olivia is "Olive tree" also, It's before usually. In the mix you add the dye.

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:00 PM

Dying the cake mix and then pouring it in color by color.

Quote:

ETYMOLOGY: The name Olivia, pronounced oh-LIV-ee-ah, in its Latin context means "an olive tree or branch". In English it means "an elf army." The name Olivia is a symbol of fruitfulness, dignity and beauty. Extending an olive branch in today's culture traditionally signifies an offer of peace.

Are you going to have the different layers have different flavors- or just change the colors?

Whisper Invictus 07-24-2010 04:02 PM

ohmygodmouthwateringblissofrainbowcake:drool:

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:02 PM

Just change the colors.
6 flavors in one cake would be too much, and I don't like mixing stuff.

JoshuaBrent 07-24-2010 04:02 PM

Alorrena: Oh ok..

Olea: ...It never messes up by blending or mixing on its own? Or Overlap each layer on its own when you poor it? How do those people get them the way Whisper showed?

Whisper Invictus 07-24-2010 04:03 PM

its like tyedye~ o 3o~~~

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:03 PM

Nope.
I've made rainbow cupcakes more times than I can count.
Always comes out exactly as I put it in.
Even the little specks that drip off my spoon.

adella_demona 07-24-2010 04:03 PM

Oleaceae I think it was better than actual tuna salad sandwiches.
I used a little cup for shaping it. A couple of them I got too wet with the salt water and they wanted to fall to pieces but after I let them sit for a little and let the rice soak up the water they were fine.

My mom kept saying how good they were. I think the difference was that I dried the pickle relish I put in the tuna mix.

Alorrena 07-24-2010 04:03 PM

Brent, yeah. I could answer the question you asked Olea with the idea i have as to how it happens, but I think it would be a little rude if she wants to answer.

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:04 PM

Want me to take pictures and upload them as I do it? LOL.

Whisper Invictus 07-24-2010 04:04 PM

yesssssssssss pictures of cake are the best :squee:

Alorrena 07-24-2010 04:04 PM

I'm getting lost in this conversation. Oh my! It's so exciting!!! Baking a cake is so much fun!

Li Mei 07-24-2010 04:05 PM

Ha - a step by step photo montage of rainbow cake making- do it!

JoshuaBrent 07-24-2010 04:05 PM

*sits quietly in his recliner like @[email protected]*

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:05 PM

I'll be right back, though. I have to figure out a way to level this color.
Shaking the snot out of it works. :]
I'll get the red picture up in a sec.

Alorrena 07-24-2010 04:06 PM

Cakety cake cake cake! YUM! Hee hee! ^^

JoshuaBrent 07-24-2010 04:07 PM

This is very interesting

Oleaceae 07-24-2010 04:08 PM

Looks pink, but it'll hopefully turn out more red. I might mix more red and yellow in, though.

adella_demona 07-24-2010 04:09 PM
