LOL I'm an overlord now? :P
Yeah that thread went better than I hoped, minus the one cranky regular donor.
I figured I'd hang out an pick some users brains for feedback

You've always been the overlord! Sometimes evil, sometimes fluffy, depending. ;)
Nooo. Don't pick my brain! The crows take enough brain crumbs as it is :gonk:

It is very leafy. And I still have the problem with the m&m association. I just can't disconnect them.

I don't think they make leaf flavoured m&m's...

Such a shame. I'd love a spinach leaf flavored m&m. Wait, I take that back. There's mint m&ms and mint is leaves, so therefore there are leaf flavored m&ms! :O

So, it looks quite leaf shaped and with the clean green and white, it makes me think of recycling or the green movement. It's a nice professional logo, but it still doesn't have any sort of Menewsha feel to me.

Well when you look at the current logo, what age do you feel the site is focussing on?

The current logo as in just the orange title or the bit of the down with the changing NPCs included?

Well, it suggests a fictional world with a colorful cast of characters. Which we do have, though while the NPCs interact during events, the lack of plot makes them feel a bit like strangers as well. Thought that's rather irrelevant to the logo grading
Anyway, I've come to associate orange letters and the little black cat with Menewsha.

Sorry, sorry, read the question wrong. The lights keep flickering here, so if I disappear, the boogey man ate me. I'd definitely say we're going for a teen age group with the anime style NPCs.

The last five or six people I've talked to have told me 12 was their first impression. Doesn't that sound odd considering the site is mostly made up of 17+?

I can see where they're coming from. I think the age of the rotating characters probably has something to do with that. They all look rather young and chibi-ish.

So then the layout needs to up it's age a bit. There is nothing wrong with the NPC's or anything like that, it just needs to help users become a little less ashamed of showing their friends the site, you know?

How hard would it be to have user selected skins that you could choose to view the forum in to the users preference? I mean, I understand completely what you're trying to do, but maybe letting users use either or to reflect their tastes is a good way to go. People who want the NPCs can have them and people who want the forum to reflect a bit more mature tastes can have that.
Though I don't think the forum skin is really going to be the thing that draws older people in. I think forums themselves need to age up a bit. Some places more relevant to adult interests perhaps? I always thought some sort of domestic discussion focused forum would be nice for recipe swaps, house hold tips, talking about crafting, stuff that people in an older age group might be more interested in would be nice.

Creating multiple skins slows down creation of new features because we end up needing to change things in each skin. In the end it becomes much more time involved than we can handle :(
Actually, I've been wanting to start a thread some time to show off whatever I cook, maybe share some recipes.
I think there needs to be a stronger focus on avatar creation, perhaps avi contents of some sort, and also something else to get people chatting more comfortably. People seem to be afraid to talk.

I dunno about all that Inso. I agree maybe a new look for the logo, but not the leaf-thing. You guys have the admin pick, how else could you expand on the contests?
