Gotcha. Ah well.
Anyway, I suggested Domesic Discussion ages ago here and the response was pretty positive. I've seen a lot of cooking focused threads started that just seem to die out. I usually just post a picture of my cakes in here and move on ^_^;;
I'm not so sure on the Avatar aspect. I think sometimes that's what puts older people off. Avatars make it seem kiddy.

I can see a cooking type thread taking off as there are users here from all over the world. Would really give everyone a chance to try something new. :yes:
I have to agree a bit with Cookie, some people view the avatar thing as "playing with digital dolls".

There is no lack of interest. I know my last girlfriend wasn't the slightest bit into avatars, anime, or fantasy, yet I put her in front of tektek and she wasted a few hours giggling away. Dress up is something that appeals to all age of woman.
There are a few ideas for contests that are a little more computer controlled and user voted.

I have to admit, I'm 24 and still have fun discovering new ideas on outfits. :D (I don't know how much time I wasted in front of tektek...>.> )
Ideas like what? give us something to work with man. :lol:

Point taken, people like to dress things up. But you might have to make that easier to do somehow. Starting naked, while I had no problem with that, probably won't appeal to most people who want to play dress up.
I really enjoy the dressing up aspect myself. I save my favorite outfits. I'm considering making a gallery of my awesomeness :rofl:
But still, I'd like to see the forums age up a bit as well. Some of them are painfully young topics that hold no appeal. The way people put no thought into their threads or posts will turn me off from posting, even if I enjoy the subject.

Geeze you want us to do all the work. >.>
Hmm..we need some theme contests. I know another site that has them where it randomly puts up two avatars at a time and people can choose which they like better. There are a lot of categories you could come up with too.

@Wulf - But it makes you feel special right? Maybe he's even listening to us :rofl:
Do we need more avatar contests when there's a whole subforum devoted to that? I hardly touch them. I love dressing up, but the avatar chat subforum does hold a bit of a stigma for being snobby and I can't say that I'm always so impressed with the avatar of the week. People's ideas of a "good avatar" sort of bug me. Like, it's only good if you have twenty layers on and I tend to prefer rather simple avatars with not too much crap going on.

The ability to save outfits, comment on each others stuff, maybe make outfit pieces public.. all of that has been considered and is pretty likely.
Getting past the starter clothes issue is a problem that will take a lot. The community as a whole doesn't want to give new users the benefit they never had. But then again, if the community doesn't grow, then I can't continue to support it.

I don't go on any other avatar sites, so I have no suggestions on how to make our dress up system more attractive.
You know, I think something as simple as being able to change the color of the underwear that they're wearing might help newbies feel less naked. Then they're just wearing a bathing suit :rofl:

Any avi contest thing would be more automated. Staff would create categories for site-wide contests and people could enter and have their friends and family vote if they wanted.
Perhaps users could also create user run categories, not quite sure how to keep the voting civil there though.

@Cookie-True. and if he follows our ideas it gives us a leg up on him "Remember when I helped you make-over Mene?" :rofl:
Maybe offer something to the old users to "compensate" for newbies getting a beginner outfit?

Hey again Kings.
@Inso - I don't care for Avatar contests. But then any sort of popularity contest holds no appeal for me and plenty of other people do enjoy them.
@Wulf - Yeah :XD
I don't know about compensation. What about a straight up newbie shop with our cheapest items all lined up? Because really, making your own first outfit will still always be more fun than getting a lame starter kit.

We could always create a shop with 20-30 basic new items in it, then give all users 5 items free. Once you collect all 5 you can't get any more from that particular shop, and you can't sellback the items.

That's an interesting idea. But what if people want those items later on? Let's say they're all basic colored items. Will they be available for sale in another store, like 52? And will they be disposable if someone doesn't want them in their inventory anymore?

Since they are free I'd suspect there would be a surplus floating around for whenever we get a marketplace.

Ah, I figured when you said you couldn't sell them back they might be locked to you somehow like Gaia's stupid soulbonding nonsense.

Whats up Kiako?
I was thinking of creating a hangout to chat and gather feedback. Any thoughts on a name for it?
