Okay, so here's my suggestions, in case you guys wander back here.
@Lavender:
1) You could go as any chick in Hale Nochi Guu (except for Guu or the maid if you want to stick to characters with darker complexions) The costumes in this series are mostly pretty lax, so you wouldn't have to worry about intense costuming. To stand out, make sure you draw those white ovals on your cheeks w/ white eye liner. There are more than are in the picture, but I was trying to find a pic w/ lots of the cast in it.
2)There's also Judia from Ragnarok, The Animation. I really don't know much about that show, but she's one of the good guys, I think.
3)Yoruichi : I agree w/ everyone on this. As far as widely known dark skinned characters in anime this is a good pick.

1) You'd make a GREAT mio from K-On. youtube the K-On Ending and you'll see the outfit better. If you're worried about your body then this is a great outfit b/c it has a poofy skirt after cinching at the waist, which = instant curves and hidden hips. You'd be able to transform for sure as her as long as you stick to the outfit in the K-On ending. Otherwise she's just in her school uniform, and looks rather typical.
2) Tsubaki from Soul Eater. There'd be some transforming in here, too.

I look like: I have contacts and glasses (so I can do whatever), my hair is naturally wavy/curly, but I straighten it sometimes.
My eyes and hair are both brown, (but I dye it black so whatever). And I'm a sorta olivey color. Not as dark as my avatar. Skin color doesn't matter to me, (like I'll go as anyone if they're cool enough), but I mention it in case there's one that would suit me better than a pale blond character. Everyone says I look much younger than I am, thinking I'm "awfully mature for a high school freshman" when I'm a college junior. :| I'll post a pic if I gotta, but I don't feel like it now.

LOL, yeah. If anyone asks you to pose, just pretend you have a gun or stare blankly and intensely like you're on a Matrix cover. I haven't seen it, yet, either, but every picture I see of her has her doing those things, LOL.

Anna Liebert/ Nina Fortner from Monster. She has two names because she was adopted later after her brother went and killed everyone. I think she also suffered some tramatic memory problems from this, too. It's been a while since I read the manga and I haven't started the anime yet.
