I live out in the boonies, too, so sirens are just as rare for me. (Last time there was a big light-flashing excitement near my place was when that plane crashed in the "airport" next door...)

Yeah, from time to time. Small one-engine recreational planes, and sometimes crop dusters, I think. Usually they land safely. Just that one time, a homemade ultralight... well, didn't. There was much excitement. The pilot survived, though, luckily.

wow, I find that pretty interesting. I've seen a small landing strip before because there was a private one on an island I think in the Toronto bay.

It's way less interesting than it sounds. Especially since it's way too close to residential homes. Interesting is trumped by the vague worry that some day a little plane will crash into somebody's roof or something. But so far, the animals haven't been too spooked by the air traffic that it generates. I think the last time aircraft really spooked the sheep was when those huge Chinooks were flying overhead on some Army exercise or something, and they certainly did not use the landing strip. XD

Anyway... I think I should be going. My urban fantasy is calling me, and so is the prospect of sleep. Work tomorrow and all...
