I should watch more Ranma 1/2. I suppose that's the 'downright classic' example of gender-bending anime. I have seen sporadic episodes but not enough to get much sense for any sort of plot.
There's a funny part of Ouran High School Host Club that I forgot about: In Episode 6 "The Elementary Host is of the 'Naughty' Type" there's an Elementary age boy who wants to join the Host Club. In scoping them out, he looks at Haruhi and asks if 'he's' an Okama... a guy who cross dresses as a girl... while in fact she's doing the opposite. The others are shocked that the kid's 'senses' are so good and they quickly drag him off to distract him with something else.
I recently did a cosplay of Len Kagamine. The photo is in my IRL albums. When I showed my friends the concept pictures I was working with, they commented about how 'girly' he looked, and then looking at my scrawny 85 lb self I said that would work out just fine.
I'm better at passing for an anime 14-16 year old bishounen than an actual adult... anything. No matter how I'm dressed... neutrally or skewed one way or the other, I get carded. One time I was obviously quite sick and I got carded for buying cold medicine, and it wasn't even the stuff they keep behind the counter. I was really tempted to cough/sneeze/hack or drip phlegmn at the cashier for fucking with me when I was obviously ill and purchasing a single remedy.
It's my vampire complex. I'm 14-16 for-e-ver...

In my case, I look decidedly male/masculine whatever you want to call it. Though when I shave I look less so. For some reason I've always looked older than I am. I was offered beer in a restaurant for the first time when I was fifteen. lol. I don't even get carded when I buy alcohol now. It's kinda cool.
Awesome thing that happened to me earlier this semester: My friend and I were on the train, and she and I are talking. She looks in the window and suddenly looks kinda worried. "What's wrong hon?" I say to her. She turns to me and says "It's nothi... Wait, you're a girl, you'll get it. Is my makeup okay?" XD I love my friends.

Haha, if anything breaks my general neutrality about gender, are my boobs and hips. Otherwise...

-pokes around in the thread-
I used to try harder in terms of being neutral, but not so much anymore.
I was once asked by a little girl at a store, "Are you a girl or are you a boy?"
I thought it was really cute.

My friends mostly know how I view Gender. One refers to me as "Gender Fluid" Meaning I don't have one. I honestly don't in my head, but I associate with and Identify more closely with girls.

Ah. My two friends at the time associated each other as...
I was the andro.
One was the girl who was guy who wanted to be a girl.
And the other was the girl who was a guy.
These were mostly for fun though. It was just odd at one point because one of them just simply forgot I was a girl... o_o

lol. Awesome. I wish I could find a girl who would completely understand what I mean when I say I'm not a guy. ...And yes, I still prefer females. I don't trust males (we are talking physical sex, not gender) due to the actions of several in my life, including my father.

I think I've grown a general distrust towards people in general thanks to my own step father.
It's "funny" (not really, but you know what I mean.. I hope) you mention that "I'm not a guy" part. One of them actually met someone who was a guy but felt he was lesbian. They're dating now.

So I randomly check my sister's Math teacher's facebook... and the guy has "Travestism" as his only Interest  I thought it was quite strange, as our high school is known for checking teachers' facebooks to prevent them from adding students *shrugs* I wish I had him as my Math teacher though... the one I had was a total prick :illgetu:

Ikuto Akihiko: Greetings, Salutations, and otherwise a warm welcome to the thread. First of all, your signature image makes me very hungry. I have a slice of carrot cake that was gifted to me earlier today but now that won't even seem to fulfill me after looking at that unhealthy yet attractive image.
I'm glad you have already made some friends here... we're all a little skewed about gender and gender stereotypes. I suppose my most recent example was when I cosplayed as a vocaloid for the cherry blossom festival parade and talent show in san francisco, and the two junior high (or very tiny high school) girls in front of me disagreed on my gender at some point but ended up going with the pronoun of my character (which was a he). I have been known to cross-play, because I'm a good actor, and as I've mentioned before, I have the 'vampire' complex where I look twice my age, but I can't really pass for any gender my real age or older. Getting carded for anything and everything absolutely sucks.

@Saro: :yes: Indeed!
@Crow: Yess. My cake is sneaky like that. Invading minds and all~
Ah yeah. I've seen some of your cosplay pictures. Very nice work!
Do you mean you look half your age? o 3o Or am I confused?
When I was little, I wanted to be a guy, sex change and everything. And while I prefer androgyny, I'm comfortable picking a gender when needed.

Ikuto Akihiko- You got me. I did indeed mean "I look half my age." Thankfully you're a smart enough... cookie... -tries not to stare at signature picture- to figure out from context what I was looking... err... talking about.

I guess I look younger than I am. I think that and coupled with the fact that I don't dress or act like most of my peers makes me seem younger. o 3o

I dress very plainly. I used to joke that I had the wardrobe of a cartoon character. XD Black jeans and T shirts, and almost nothing else. Now I have some other shirts, but I still wear mostly black jeans.
I would say I act normally, but that's only because I really don't do anything when I'm in public. lol. I don't go out much, and when I do, I'm very quiet.
