Once upon a time, I had a goal. A wish. A dream.

I wanted to turn every single Mene user I could into Sims in my Menewsha Island neighborhood.

It was an admirable goal, though one that is slow in happening. Especially since I only had like, three users that knew about it and wanted to be on my island. And thus, after months of not really planning anything I upped and decided to make a single thread where all the awesome of this plan could converge into one place.

So what are you waiting for? We've got a whole other world of pixels to explore and infect with the awesome that is Menewsha and its users.

Q&A – FAQ – REQUIREMENTS – RULES

This is the post with the answers to your questions- hopefully- the rules and requirements, along with some of our more frequently asked questions. At least, when people start asking questions. You know, all that boring stuff. Still, it's a good idea to read through this. Especially the rules.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Hey! What in the world is/are the Menewshan Simmers?
A: The Menewshan Simmers are a group of Menewshans who try to recreate Menewsha Island and it's population- most of it, at least- in Sims 2 or Sims 3.

Q: Uh-huh. And... what's the point? Do you get anything from it?
A: Does there have to be a point? We do this for fun, because we want to. There's no reward, and no point to it other than doing it because we can. We may end up brightening a few peoples' days, and if we do that just makes the whole thing more worth while.

Q: I want to participate! How do I get started?
A: A few posts down there are two forms, one for Simmers (people who make the Sims and Island) and one for Simees (the ones being turned into the Sims.) Fill either one of those out and send them to me. And that's it, you've started!

Q: I want to be a Simmer, but I don't know how to make a neighborhood, or I'm not good at making houses. Halp!
A: Take two deep breaths to calm yourself. Better? Good. If you don't know how to make a neighborhood or aren't confident in your ability to make and decorate houses, that's fine. We have a guide that explains the basics of doing just those things. Everyone started somewhere, and we're willing to help you figure out the steps and get your feet under you.

Q: I'd like to be both a Simmer and a Simee. Is that allowed?
A: It certainly is! It would be pretty lame otherwise. It takes a little longer since you have to fill out both applications, but I think it's worth it in the long run. It can be fun to see what people come up with for your Sim, especially if you aren't that picky about what it looks like.

Q: Your forms are too long! Can't you cut 90% of the stuff in it out? I don't want to fill all of that out!
A: I'm sorry you feel that way. There's a lot of detail that goes into making a Sim, so I thought it would be best to include each of those details in the Simee form. I don't think that the Simmer form is all that long, though I guess I can see how some people would think it is. Being a Simmer will end up being time consuming and arduous at times. Think of the form as the first hurdle.

If you don't want to fill every last detail out on the forms, that's fine. Keep in mind that if you leave something out on the Simee form, the Simmer will have to make their own choice for that option based on what they know. So if you leave something, don't come crying if it's wrong later.

Q: Do I have to fill out a form to make Mene Sims?
A: Nope! :D It's just easier to keep track of people if you do.

Requirements

You must have at least the base Sims 2 game
You must know how to make a family
You must have at least a basic knowledge of making Sims houses
You must know how to access the testingcheats enabled cheat

Rules

Be polite, to both Simmers, Simees and random people who stop by to talk.
Be patient. Turning a user into a Sim takes a lot of time and patience, so don't be asking your Simmer “IS IT DONE YET?!” every five minutes.
On that same note, please try to avoid going offline before your Sim is done. There is no way to save a Family and then come back to work on it later, so if you leave part way through, your Simmer may have to just finish the Sim to the best of their ability. If this happens, please understand that they do not have to remake it for you if you don't like it.
Follow the TOS, site rules, forum rules AND our rules.
Please try to keep vulgar language to a minimum. A lot of people don't mind swearing- myself among them- but such language does makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

A GUIDE ON SIMS 2 CHEATS AND THE BASICS OF MAKING A FAMILY, HOUSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD

Welcome to the Mene Simmer's guide of learning to make stuff in Sims 2. The stuff we're going to show you is actually pretty common knowledge and easy to do, but it's quite easy to skip over something and then have no idea how to do something- making neighborhoods for instance. If a friend hadn't called me(Lath) up and showed me how to, I still would have no idea how to make them.

Because we love you people, we're going to use a *LOT* of screenshots. So this is going to be pretty image intensive.

!! This cheat has always been wiggy for me, but maybe you will all have better luck !!

Build/buy mode cheats:

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation [true/false]

Allows you to turn objects at 45 degree angles with the "</," key and the ">/." key.
!!This cheat can only be used if you have any of the following expansion packs: University, Pets, Open for Business and/or Nightlife.!!
@ Sims tend to have problems using objects effected by this cheat, I suggest it's used only for decorating purposes.

boolProp snapObjectsToGrid [true/false]

This cheat lets you fine-tune where you want to put things, rather then depending on the grid. Make sure you still leave room for movement for your Sims when using this cheat.
@ Most of the time, you cant use this cheat with windows and doors, they glitch with the walls and can't be used by Sims

deleteAllFences
deleteAllWalls
deleteAllHalfWalls

Deletes all fences, walls or half-walls in a lot, a quick fix instead of fighting with the ctrl/click way of getting rid of them
!! these cheats only work if you have the Pets expansion !!
!! You must be in Build mode for these to work!!

roofSlopeAngle [15-75]

Changes the angle of all roofs on the lot, try to stick to increments of 5 or 10, the lowest you can go is 15 and the highest is 75.
!!You must have Pets, Open for business and/or Nightlife for this cheat to work. !!

setHighestAllowedLevel [1-16]

Sets the amount of floors allowed, going higher than 16 will cause the game to crash.
!! you must have University, Pets, Open for Business and/or Nightlife for this cheat to work!!
@ If you have later expansions such as Vacation, This cheat might not work, or only work occasionally. I have no idea why this happens.

moveObjects [on/off]

Probably a cheat I use most, it allows you to move and delete objects you normally can't, as well as placing things where you couldn't before. I will make a guide on this amazing tool.

!! Deleting things such as trashcans, mailboxes and public phones can cause problems and bugs in gameplay!!
!! Note that this cheat uses on/off instead of true/false !!

Gameplay Cheats:

boolProp ControlPets [on/off]

Control your pets and assign them actions the way you do with Sims.

!! You need the Pets expansion to use this (kinda duh) !!

forceTwins

If your sim is pregnant, they will have twins.
!! As far as I know, you need either Pets or Open for Business for this cheat to work, but I'm not certain. !!

setHour [0-23]

Sets the hour of day
!! Again, as far as I know, It works if you have Pets or Open for Business. !!

maxMotives

Self-explanatory, it makes your Sims motives go up, making them happy. Works on your sims and NPCs
!! as far I know, it only works in Nightlife, Open for business and Pets. !!

kaching

Adds 1,000 simoleons to the current family funds.

motherlode

Adds 50,000 simoleons to the current family funds.

Misc cheats

expand

This will expand the Cheat prompt, allowing you to see what cheats you have typed and it will not close after you type one cheat, allowing you to input one after another without hitting Ctrl-Shift-C every time.

exit

closes the expanded cheat prompt.

If you want to be a Simmer- one of the people who turns Menewshans into Sims- or you are looking to see who's a Simmer, this is the post for you. Below is a list of all our current Simmers and the form to fill out if you'd like to be one.

Please PM all requests to be a Simmer to Lathrine, one request per person. All accepted Simmers will be shown below. I'm not planning on rejecting anyone, but if I do happen to reject you I will most certainly tell you why. Applications can been seen that THIS blog is people are interested.

Yes, the application is rather long compared to some. I want you guys to know what you're getting into. =] Also, if you have a Sim of yourself, be it your real self or an avatar, by all means you are welcome to include it in you application!

THE SIMEES

If you don't want to be a Simmer or can't for what ever reason, but would still like to participate, this is your post. Below is a list of all of the people waiting to be Sim'd and those who already have been Sim'd.

Because this is such a monster of an application, please PM it to either Lathrine or another Simmer. :heart:

Also, Simees! Before you look at the application I have something to say- it's a monster. Your application to be a Simee is even bigger than the one us Simmers have to fill out. That's so we can avoid as many posts back and forth working out details as we can. =] You may not like filling out such a long form, but hopefully it will make the process of actually making the Sim go faster.

Sure, there's still going to be posts back and forth along the lines of "Hey, here's your Sim so far. Do you like it?" "Nah, I want my head to be a different shape/bigger nose/smaller eyes." "Mmkay." but this will cut down on a lot of it.

Remember- this application is assuming that a Simmer won't have access to Custom Content. If you want, say, bright purple hair that would be custom content. So make a note about "I'd like bright purple hair, but if you can't get CC Red or Blond is fine."

I'm an avid fan of TS2, especially since my lame system can't run TS3... Even though I have a copy of it! :gonk:
Anyway... Apparently I have TS2 still installed; I have everything except Apartment Life, Mansion and Garden Stuff, and um... Kitchen and Bath Stuff? Oh, and probably the IKEA one. Too many friggin' stuff packs! :illgetu:

Anyway! Yeah, so... Not sure if I'm up to being a Simer, I'd totally be a Simee! :'D

TS2 is aaaawesome. :drool: Not sure what I think of TS3, but TS2 is love. =3
Inorite? So many stuff packs! :gonk: There's almost twice as many of those things as there is actual expansions. ;<

I have the Sims 3, but... :gonk: I tried it once, and it didn't work. Apparently my video card isn't good enough for fancy-fancy sims threeee.

Yeah, they are. :gonk: I feel bad about that, but I wanted Simers to know what they were getting into and I wanted to get as much detail as I could right up front from Simees. :c
Well, we can be lame together then! :drool: 'Cause I don't use CC. xD; Mostly because I don't have an account at MDTS2, and because neither Bodyshop nor the furniture one work. :B

Can you make it yourself?

I've had an account at MTS2 for AGES. I used to go through phases of downloading TONS of CC one day, and then deleting it all the next. xD;
It just made my game feel unclean and kinda dirty with CC... I dunno, I personally prefer the default stuff, not to mention the nice stuff that comes with all of the EPs/SPs. =3

Blah. Now I'm in a Simming mood! :gonk:

I wanna start reading some Legacies again... I always loved to see what people wrote about! And there was some flipping FANTASTIC writers, Like Candi(insert bunch of numbers here). :lol:

Facade; Aye, same. =] I do like some of the CC people make, but I prefer the default stuff. Plus I don't have to do any work to use it. XD

No, can't say I am. D: What's Legacy?

The Legacy Challenge

It's basically a challenge people do in the game and usually document through stories they upload to the TS2 site. :P
They've been going on practically ever since TS2 came out, and they've even carried onto TS3!
The basic premise is that you make a sim in Create-A-Sim (CAS), and then move them into an empty lot that their measley $20,000 can buy them. From there, they get a job, blah blah blah, save up money, gradually build a house, get a spouse, have kids, etc. ... The goal is to go through ten generations. :)
Absolutely no money/motive cheats are to be used, too!

They can get pretty intense; there's a bunch of other challenges as well. There's one called the Apocalypse Challenge, and another called the Asylum Challenge, and... Well, you get the gist! :lol:
Some of the Legacy stories are just SO hilarious. :rofl: Definitely worth looking into!

Boolprop's a good community... If you plan on doing the Legacy Challenge, you should join Boolprop and post the links to your Legacy and whatnot! It's the guaranteed way of getting a lot of readers! : D
