@ Swan: I've got no clue.

@ Hyena: I now see why your girlfriend loves your hips.

Hyena 12-08-2010 04:33 AM

I'd be a German Shepherd: all business on the front, but generally misunderstood and when I'm off the job all I wanna do is play. >w<

She likes my hips because they go swoosh-swoosh!

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 04:39 AM

That seems like it should be a song title. "She likes my hips cause the way they go swoosh swoosh!" <I sense a pop-rap phenomenon! Someone call that keisha? kesha? person. the girl that sings about clocks. or maybe 3oh!3. lol

Hyena 12-08-2010 04:42 AM

Kei$ha? There's a dollar sign in there.

I think its a Shakira song, but she already did that with "My Hips Don't Lie."

.... which... my hips DO lie. They make me look REALLY thin, when I am, in fact, overweight.

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 04:45 AM

Weight is a lie. At least the concept of over-under weight. It's all just numbers our society has come up with to try to classify and qualify us according to standards and averages. It's impersonal and doesn't take all the factors into account. What matters isn't a number on a scale, it's how you feel, how healthy you are, and how you view yourself that really should matter.

TaiyoTsuki 12-08-2010 04:49 AM

Here's what determines a healty weight; Body type, lifestyle, height, age, gender, and activity level (which goes along with lifestyle). Which is why, even though I'm close to 200 lbs, I've got a healthy body weight.

Here's what DOESN'T determine a healthy weight: Society's "norms", because we all know the "healthy" weight according to society is needle-thin.

Hyena 12-08-2010 04:54 AM

Well, you can be overweight and perfectly healthy, providing that the weight is mostly muscle, like in my case. The word "obese" only really applies to someone whose percent of fat is at an unhealthy level and it inhibits the ability to perform basic tasks. If you're built with a square frame and the chart says that you're "obese," but you can still walk up a flight of stairs without taking a rest, then you're not obese. The word "overweight" has been given some negative connotations because of the way people equate it with an unhealthy lifestyle, but its got nothing to do with lifestyle.

So, yes. I am overweight. According to my height and frame, I should be 170. I'm 40 lbs over, and that's a good mix of fat and muscle. The 40 extra doesn't inhibit my ability to move, clearly.

I don't know my body fat ratio, unfortunately. But I have lost quite a bit of inches since working at Walmart.

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 04:57 AM

I agree! The social standards I think are actually part of what's currently causing the epidemic of truly morbidly obese people. It's the midn set of "I'll never be able to look like that so why bother trying" that's causing a huge issue I think. I know for people like my friends chuck (currently 26 and weighing in at 350ish when he's not even as tall as me, 5'6") and Beef (real name jeff, the nick name was his own choice in high school, he's bigger than chuck but taller too, not sure exactly) that seems to be the case. I've heard them both start to try to get in shape many times, then give up after a few weeks because they feel like it's pointless. It's so sad too, because they're both such awesome people! Beef even has a girlfriend now, and she seems to really care about him for who he is inside, but she's mentioned that she is concerned for him due to his health, so hopefully she'll motivate him to get healthy. Anyways, point is, our society drives people to feel like they've failed just because they cant get into their "we don't carry anything bigger than a size 6" designer clothes. If we'd just encourage them to be healthy and live the life they want, I can't help but think things would be allot better.

TaiyoTsuki 12-08-2010 04:57 AM

@ Hyena: Neither do I, so don't feel bad. What makes it hilarious though is that people think I weigh so much less than what I actually do!

@ Swan: Well, here's my take on the whole "I'll never look like the supermodels" deal:
-1) They're anorexic, which'll end up killing them anyway.
-2) They're idiots, which is why they're anorexic to begin with.
-3) The pictures are all photoshopped anyway; there's no way a normal person could ever look like that!

Thus, I've got no problems with my body just the way it is. That, and it's completely hilarious when people think I'm 40-50 lighter that what I actually am!

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:04 AM

People tell me I weight 160. PAH! xDD

I just think its important to eat a balanced diet. A few vegetables can go a long way in improving your metabolism. Vitamin B complex is AWESOME and fixes everything!

Taiyo: My mom was anorexic. I go with option 3.

Also, I find that girls with oddities in their faces to be very appealing. (My girlfriend has a jewfro. And a jew nose. Maybe I just like Jews...)

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 05:04 AM

Sorry about my little rant. It's just a touchy subject for me to as most of my family is truly overweight, not just like numbers over but still healthy. Like truly over. Most of them are winded after walking to the bathroom. All of them have horrible health problems from it. My younger cousin tyler is already having heart problems and his cholesterol is crazy high and he just turned 20.

And I agree on all three points Taiyo! Also, from what I've seen, most of them really hate themselves too. What's the point in in working your butt off to look like some ideal if you're still going to hate yourself when you get there. Acording to my doctor I'm 40lbs over weight, but you know what, I fell great! I wish I was a little more flexible, sure, but I'm doing yoga to work on that. I may not always like everything about myself, but I certainly don't hate myself. So think I'm better off than most of them anyway :-p

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:07 AM

I think the important thing is that YOU think you're sexy.

Seriously, that's why women buy frilly underwear. Not because they're trying to impress someone, but because lingerie makes you feel pretty. And goddamn, that confidence is sexy as hell.

...

-mind wanders-

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 05:13 AM

I agree! My x husband used to yell at me for "waisting money on stuff that was gonna end up on the floor in 5 minutes" then he'd usually make some jack ass remark about how he'd seen everything already and it's not like putting a bow on a gift you've already unwrapped makes it exciting again. BUTTTT I still did it anyway, cause I loves it! Especially garter belts. I hav e a MAJOR weakness for corsets, garter belts, and thy highs. mmmmm....

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:15 AM

I'm all about suspenders, baby! I found this really awesome teddy that was pinstripes and immediately yelled WANT!

I'm going to see if I can find one of the lingerie sites one of my... uh... former roommates sent me to... One sec.

AHA! http://www.hipsandcurves.com/plus-size-lingerie/

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:25 AM

Well then. I don't have ANY experience with lingerie xD
But confidence is a good thing it looks good so I don't see why any guy would complain.

But I think I should go. Class tomorrow and its 2am.

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:30 AM

STEVE LIVES IN THE FUTUUUURRRRE!

G'night, Steve. xD

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:31 AM

I SHOULD be going. Never said I was.

And yes. I are from teh Future!

On an unrelated note I'm looking at Geektastic action figures.
SQUARE ENIX emailed my about new ones. and totally misread the price on one xD It's $39.99 and I thought it was $399.

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 05:32 AM

Ahk, damn. work servers block it. Grrr. I hate the web filter here. It censors some of the most ridiculous stuff. That's still awesome though :-) Suspenders are cool :-)

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:33 AM

Curse you SQUARE ENIX! Teasing me with your toys then not loading so I can see them!

BlackSwan317 12-08-2010 05:37 AM

Darn straight! You tell them Svenny!

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:38 AM

Tell who which?

Oooh Front Mission toys. Giant Robots <3

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:39 AM

Oh, I forgot about blockers. But definitely look them up when you get a chance. All of their stuff runs to 3XL, and some come in extended sizes. Very sexy things. <3

GIANT ROBOTS! Clearly, the world needs more of them.

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:40 AM

Not a thing in existence doesn't need more giant robots.

Hyena 12-08-2010 05:41 AM

It took me at least three tries to read that sentence right. Which means that its awesome. And needs more giant robots.

Parasite Steve 12-08-2010 05:41 AM

Three tries that would have been better with giant robots.
