Yeeeeah... I don't care for that... "just warm enough not to be freezing" temperature.

I actually like it in the 50's. That whole 50-70º weather we get for one week in the spring is niiiiize.

cuppycake_geek 02-17-2011 07:25 AM

yeah I like that kind of weather too other wise its just too hot

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 07:30 AM

I agree. Although, I'm a night dweller by nature, so the to hot days tend to be nice for a warm but temperate night.

cuppycake_geek 02-17-2011 07:30 AM

guh we just get humid nights so that sucks

Hyena 02-17-2011 07:31 AM

Too bad Indiana weather is like... "oh, you liked that, huh? Well, we've decided to go in a different direction. Hope you like it crispy!"

Also, I just crushed an asian lady beetle. It smells like rotting dirt. Good job, nature: making the self-defense mechanism to BLEED all over your enemies.

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 07:35 AM

Ugh. The big orange-red ones? I hate those ones. They swarm my families house in terrifying numbers every summer.

Hyena 02-17-2011 07:38 AM

Same here. They brought them over to reduce the aphid population and improve the production of corn, but they became an invasive species and now we have to deal with their foul-smelling carcasses every time one of them realizes too late that lightbulb=hot.

cuppycake_geek 02-17-2011 07:43 AM

lady bugs were just not good enough I guess

Hyena 02-17-2011 07:48 AM

Ladybugs reproduced at a slower rate than the asian beetles and were more susceptible to drought. That came back to bite us in the agricultural ass.

cuppycake_geek 02-17-2011 07:52 AM

uh huh

I like lady bugs more

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 08:09 AM

I don't mind the regular plain old cute little red lady bugs, it's just these big ugly sticky orange ones that bother me. They've definitely landed on while I was asleep or half asleep, and I swatted them only to wake to that horrid smell and the nasty yellow/orange stain on my skin/clothes

Hyena 02-17-2011 08:20 AM

I've swallowed them before. >_>

That orange stain? Yeah. That's their blood. When they're nervous their pores open up and since they have an open circulatory system, all that comes out is their blood. Their defense mechanism is the bleed on you.

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 08:22 AM

Eeew... yeah.. highly ineffective unless you're some type of infectious beast, like a zombie, or (some types of) vampire. But, lady bugs are considerably less cool than that...

Hmm... I wonder if you could use lady bugs as a weapon that way? Bet the government is looking into it. The aphid control thing was just a front :-p

Hyena 02-17-2011 08:27 AM

Ohyes. This must be related to HW Bush's attack dolphins.

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 08:56 AM

Totally! :-p

If my dad were here he'd probably be going on a rant about how that was true, then running off to quietly research the lady bug theory. For being a big gruff red neck, his quiet dorky side from when he was young still evidences itself in form of conspiracy theories of Adja like proportions sometimes. He was in the navy as a decoder on submarines, his security clearance, at one time, was higher than that of the president (which both confuses and bothers me that that's possible) I think it all drove him a little nutty, but at the same time, I wonder what all he knows that he isn't telling me sometimes. I've tried to ask him before, and he always just tells me it wouldn't be safe for him to talk about, and I need to drop it, cause he'll take some of it to his grave with him.

Hyena 02-17-2011 09:45 AM

Neat!

My uncle Dave used to work for the Pentagon. Unfortunately, no interesting stories from him. Or they will kill him. o_o

I wonder how my friend Geneva is going to hold up in the Navy... >>

BlackSwan317 02-17-2011 09:49 AM

I tried to join once, but they wouldn't take me cause of my "pre existing mental conditions.... and anemia."

Truth be told, now I'm glad I didnt. I dunno if I would have done well in the military world. Major Kudo's to your friend for it though, and I hope all the best for her!

Hyena 02-17-2011 10:18 AM

Geneva (actually, she's the one I based Genevieve off of...) is ridiculously smart. She has a ton of mental conditions, but they allowed her in the Navy under the condition that she prove that she can go six months without her medication. And she can. So now she's in the Navy. =D

Used to be that I wouldn't be allowed in the military because I'm gay. Now that I don't have that excuse, I'm going to go with "crippling anxiety disorder." Yes. That will suffice. xD

I've never wanted to be in the military. I'm just not cut out for it. I have this... problem. With... authority... >__>

nemo.love_22 02-17-2011 10:21 AM

Hey there! *waves* Sorry I've not been around more - been having a rough few weeks. How're y'all doin'?

Hyena 02-17-2011 10:59 AM

Its Hopes!

I've been doing pretty awesome, the house coup notwithstanding. Half of my flatmates refuse to talk to me. Which is awesome because... I hate them. And the ones that I REALLY want to talk to... are going to continue to talk to me. ^^

Never going to get that $1000 back, though.

nemo.love_22 02-17-2011 11:07 AM

That's good to hear. I wish I could say the same for me. *sigh* Things aren't going too well with my fiance - if we are even still engaged... I don't even know anymore. *sigh*

Hyena 02-17-2011 11:08 AM

Oh? What happened? Or would it be rude to ask?

nemo.love_22 02-17-2011 11:10 AM

Eh, to be honest - I don't really know. *sighs* I hate DISTANCE! :( Makes it so much harder to try to figure out what's going wrong, was it something that I did. :(

Hyena 02-17-2011 11:12 AM

Oh, I forgot that you two were in a long-distance relationship...

Was there an argument or is he just not responding to your calls?

nemo.love_22 02-17-2011 11:14 AM

His voice is all screwed up - so actual phone convos are really hard for us.
But from what I got from his texts (saying that he'd call me and never did), it sounds like there may be another girl... Is it not enough for him that I'm waiting for him, putting everything on hold, our wedding, what seems like my life... everything, for him. Waiting for him. Sorry, not totally in the best of moods at the moment.
