i started a few months ago too, but i have been too busy to come on in the last 2 months. i recently rediscovered it again! everyone is super nice^^ i wish they had more games though! the only one i am pretty good at is Tetris because i had a Tetris addiction before i came here. the others i am not good at and make barely any gold T.T it seems like a lot of people love Attack of the Fangirls but i am not great at that either! maybe i need to practice (. . )

hi Aaron! i moved here because i just graduated from college and wanted to teach English abroad so here i am! i don't know how good of a teacher i am but i try my best and i love my students so much! especially the 1st and 2nd graders, they are the cutest. one day i will faint from cuteness overload!

Ugh, wow this place is so crazy tonight! We're about 30 minutes away from Penn State University and they have graduation all this weekend, so it has just been super busy. Every hotel within probably 50 miles of PSU has been sold out for this weekend since this time last year, and I have people yelling at me because I don't have any extra rooms available. Things have finally did down at least a little.

So, how is living in Korea?

i LOVE it here!!! everyone is usually super nice, and i have met so many genuine people. it can be difficult though. i am African American and people stare a lot. i have gotten pretty used to it but on a bad day especially it is unbearable to get so many cold stares. i have never been so self conscious as i am now. i care more about my appearance and wear more makeup which i don't necessarily think is a good thing. one of my Korean friends have also told me people said nasty things about my hair one day in Korean behind my back, and that hurt me the most.

most people are extremely nice, and impressed when i use what little Korean i know. sometimes people talk to me or ask questions randomly, or give me free food. it's easy to make friends because everyone wants to practice English.

but overall i love it here, and i want to stay longer!

props to you for dealing with all of that craziness, i would be so stressed out! i hate people who are nasty to you just because you are in the service industry. i used to work at Wendy's in high school, i know what it's like >.<

That's wonderful that your finding it welcoming over all ^_^ You'll have nasty people who just don't like anyone who is different no matter where you go, so kudo's for being strong through that, I know it must be very difficult :-(

As for the service industry, it really does bite to put it mildly. People think that just because you're getting paid to stand their and smile at them and deal with their crap means that they can either A) treat you like dog poop, or B) expect you to bend over backwards to cater to their every whim, even when they're no body of any significance to your particular establishment. I wish they could realize that in the end we're all just folks now, trying to make a living and keep food on the table, some of them are just better off than the rest of us is all, doesn't change that we're all trying to get by. *sigh* I just wish the world as a whole could be more understanding and accepting of other people's situations.

thanks for the kudos^^ and i completely agree with you!! people think they can do or say whatever to you! i shouldn't take things personally but i am more sensitive than i like to admit, and i get really annoyed with people like that. i really cannot understand how people can't empathize or see the point of view of service/retail/food industry employees when they are on the other side of the counter, it makes no sense! i worked in retail in between college and moving here, and i was counting down the days til i left! i secretly plotted to come back after i was no longer an employee and yelling at annoying customers who threw things everywhere or were rude to employees. never happened tho, fail! >.<

so really you're stronger than me for putting up with everyone's crap! i think u get more of that at a hotel front desk, a prime target for foolishness.

I always wanted to do that, and I do kind of at some places. (the whole going back after you left and yelling at people.) I used to work at a chain convenience store called Sheetz, and I still to this day will give people a hard time for doing the stuff that used to drive me nuts when I worked there :-p

i haven't really done it there, but i give people strange looks if they are making a mess or causing problems at stores. i usually get too scared to say something. but i always try and clean up after myself and my friends. i will wipe my area up at a table a bit at a restaurant or help stack dishes and silverware so it will be easier to clean. i think little things like that are not a big deal, and every leaves the situation much happier.

talking about this reminds me of Amelie, have you ever seen that movie? it's one of my favorites!!!

I was supposed to watch it with him one night when we were both home from college, but we ended up watching The Triplets of Bellville instead :-p

----------

Unfortunately deary I have to run. Have some paperwork to do then I have to set up breakfast for the hungry masses :-p

It's been a real pleasure talking with you tonight though and I hope you'll keep visiting us ^_^
