Yeah, I'm considering studying in Portland Oregon, and people say the weather's bad, but the temperatures are definitely better even if the rainfall is similar.

I might watch some late night TV with a snack (I wasn't that hungry at dinner). Well, not that late. It's only 10:30pm.

Birthday tomorrow! I'm meeting someone for lunch, then opening presents with family in the afternoon (not in the morning, brother and sister have school until 20th July), then in the evening I'm eating out with a couple of friends and then possibly having a movie marathon.

Portland is actually an AMAZING city. Not as cool as Seattle in a lot of ways, but it is pretty forward thinking and friendly. I'd definitely consider it. The weather can be a bit rainy, but it complements the city, I think. It's all cosy like. I'm looking at Southern Oregon University, down near the California border, in Ashland. The town itself is so lovely. A good size, pretty, and vibrant what with the Shakespearean festival they hold there. The college is great too, the people are accommodating, the school is small, the campus manageable, there are plenty of fellow vegetarians and programmes to cater to them, and it's one of the few schools somewhat nearby that have classes in costume history, which was basically a must for me. But there is the heat thing. And I'm not sure it's moist enough for my liking... I am a child of the rain.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday! With your itinerary, it sounds like it's bound to be!

Edit: Oh, I just saw Tobias' post. Where in the northwest are you from, ma'am?

TobiasRosetta 06-27-2010 10:36 PM

Ha ha ha ha I actually live just about 30 minutes outside Portland, Oregon. I'm in Washington state, but on the southern border, so about 3 hours away from Seattle. I love it here in the fall, and winter. Summer gets too hot, even more my tastes, but oh well. <3 I love Portland. It's the best place for concerts, and just all around amazing people.

Pearl 06-27-2010 10:59 PM

Portland is definitely a possibility. I love the sound of the city, but will east coast be a more interesting to visit/travel in?

It's just 9 months of study.

It's my birthday!!! 19 for the past 60 seconds! Just got the birthday sign up!

Welll *Turns into a travel agent.* Oregon and Washington state are the most diverse states in the country. The only states where you can drive a few hours in any direction and reach the ocean, a rainforest, a desert, and the mountains. The weather is honestly an amazing variety. Spring we do get a considerable amount of rain, but just as much rain, we get sun as well. The temperature from early March to late May is about 60 F - 70 F. June through late August we range anywhere from 65 F - 90 F. (In the really really hot summers, we may have a couple days in the 100's, but generally we stay at an average of 70 -80. September through late november, early december, we have a pretty big climate shift and temperatures range from 70/60 to the 40's. We get most of our heavy rainfall october, november, and december. December and January we can get pretty cold. Two years ago we had a huge snowstorm that lasted about two weeks, but that was a pretty big surprise. Normally if we get snow, it's just a couple of days in late late december, or January.

Portland has some really awesome venue's for going to concerts, great bars where local bands are always playing, same thing in Vancouver, Washington which is only about 15 minutes from Portland. It's a quick drive from the inner city just out to some farm land. Seattle isn't too far away, and they've got some awesome museums up there, and the Experience the Music Project which is absolutely amazing. I was born and raised here, just outside of Portland. So if you have any questions, just let me know. <3

@Emi: Thanks! I shall tease my friend about pregnant fish henceforth.

@Pearl: Happy Birthday!

I wish I had something interesting to say about Oregan or Washington! Alas, I have never been to either. I need to get out more.

Cardinal Biggles 06-28-2010 12:35 AM

Ah, another Washingtonian. I've never encountered such a per capita... thing... there's a lot of Washingtonians on here.

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 12:43 AM

Really? Wow. That's pretty cool.

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 12:45 AM

I am finally home! I'm hoping to work on my story tonight.

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 12:50 AM

<333 Hey Viral. Welcome home!

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 01:05 AM

Hey, thanks! I'm surprised I'm so tired. Watch me sleep for like 10 hours tomorrow lol So what's up with you?

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 01:10 AM

ha ha ha ha Mmmm Sleep.... That's a wonderful though....

Not much up here. Just RPing and playing a whole lot of tetris ha ha ha. How was your day?

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 01:12 AM

Pretty quiet. Just hung out with my bestie and came home. Washed my hair and am now watching Balls of Fury for the second time. Also planning on going to a party/sleepover next week. Yours?

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 01:17 AM

Fun fun fun. I've never watched Balls of Fury. I've just been chilling out here at home. Helping my mom rearrange her room because she has to have the HEAVIEST bed frame EVER.

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 01:18 AM

It's pretty good, funny at the very least but I'm also a huge Christopher Walken fan.

Haha soon as I came home, my mom told me I need to clean my room tomorrow. She didn't say anything about my hair at all or say hello

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 01:26 AM

LMao my mom is like that all the time. But I color my hair once a week pretty much. She'll come home wondering if I'll have pink/blue/green/orange/pink/purple/or red hair ALL the time.

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 01:35 AM

I can't dye my hair any weird colors like that because it's naturally dark so it'd take forever to do with bleaching and shit and I work in the local school system.

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 01:48 AM

When I was working, I was in the beauty industry, so it was acceptable for me to do the crazy colors. I'm going to be a tattoo artist, so I guess I'm lucky that my appearance is expected to be odd.

Natural color
Purple and Black
Black, Purple, and Magenta
Black, Purple, and Pink.
Black and Pink.
Black and Peach
Black and Red
Black and Green
Black and Blue. (Current color.)

All from this year, ha ha ha.

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 02:15 AM

Oooh I have a friend who's an amazing artist. I told her she has to do all of my tattoo work lol I love meeting people at concerts.

P.S. You are SO fucking adorable!

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 02:20 AM

Ha ha ha I love tattooing. And getting tattooed. SO much. <33

P.S. Awwwwww Thank you!!!!! *Blush*

Vix Viral 06-28-2010 02:23 AM

I don't have any yet, I'm waiting to be out on my own because my parents would have a huge fit about it but I want my first to be a memorial for my grandmother.

You're welcome!

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 03:23 AM

I've got two at the moment. I'm going to eventually have a full sleeve to combine my native american heritage, my gypsy heritage, and my love of asia. <3 gypsy geisha ftw.

My other sleeve is going to be completely dedicated to the works of Hayao Miyazaki. <3
On my back though, I'm going to have a memorial for all the people who are important to me. My mum, my grandma (Hers will be hummingbirds), my great grandpa, and a few others.

Nolori 06-28-2010 03:26 AM

To butt in on the conversation:

I am so amazed by people who can get tattoos. I am way too scared to. Also, aren't you ever worried what they'll look like later? Or is it just more about the meaning than how they look?

Cardinal Biggles 06-28-2010 03:32 AM

I kind of want to get one. I have a cool idea for one, but I'm just not sure. Plus, I couldn't get one until my dad has passed on, because he is comically disgusted by them.

TobiasRosetta 06-28-2010 03:37 AM

Well, if you get a good, proper artist who knows the human body, and as long as you take care of yourself in your life, your tattoo's will look good forever (Until you're like 90, and then it doesn't matter because you're just this hardcore, cool as hell grandma who's got ink >:} )

I love getting tattooed. The meaning behind them, and offering my skin as a permanent canvas to amazing, completey underrated artists.... It's a huge honor for someone to want to wear your art for the rest of their lives.
