Someone who looks normal is really someone who has a a LOT of skeletons in their closet. They've just never taken the time to clear it all out. I much prefer being me.

josberrin - Yeah, the community I live in is very close-minded.
I hope that moving out of this area for a bit may broaden my choices?

Scribbled - Well, that's what my first guess was too. xD I just didn't know for sure.

I've always been kind of odd. :o Not just because of my sexual preferences. Mostly because I'm just weird. :ninja:

I think to some degree or another we're all weird here. I know for a fact Amaya is more than a tad bit weird. :XP

I think that my best friend is bi, too, but I haven't seen her in so long that it could have changed.

I like Lisa Diamond's theory on sexual fluidity.

I haven't heard of Lisa Diamond before. I support the theory that sexuality is fluid though, if that's what it's about. I think a lot of people aren't aware sexuality can change, so they become really anxious when they feel their own preferences change.. I know I thought it was weird at first.

It's funny, because I never felt weird when my preference changed. I think, though, if my mom did anything right she didn't raise me to discriminate against people. xP She had no racism or any of that.

I love Lisa Diamond's work, though, and I agree with it. I thought it was funny when we started to discuss it in class because when we were doing an in-class response, I tended to think of the sexes as different. Like women were more likely to be fluid than men. But I didn't even realize it until someone pointed it out to me. xD I was like "well, crap, I did just do that didn't I?"

I'd be seriously concerned if my sexuality decided to up and change on its own. I like the idea of my sexuality being fixed even if I know that's not how it really is. I'd hate to lose my attraction to men and women both because I feel like it's the best expression I have of my capability to love and be loved and great sexy times.

Scribbled -
That's not exactly how it would work, though.
I think what Lisa gets at is some times you'll feel more attracted to males than females.
And sometimes the opposite.

I don't know if you'll ever really LOSE the attraction.

Exactly, you wouldn't suddenly stop feeling attracted to people you used to be attracted to. I've identified as bi, straight, gay, pan and now as.. I don't know, nothing in particular. I've also heard people identify themselves as bi, but currently lesbian-identified, or something like that. At the moment I'm really open, a few weeks back I definitely preferred guys over girls and a couple of years ago I didn't even so much as look at guys for a few weeks. In that way, I'm very fluid. Because really, sexuality is just preferences, just like some people like blonde people, or brunettes, or whatever. (No, not just the same, but similar anyway. A lot broader.)

Hm I prefer girls right now... but I'm attracted to guys too... so I guess that makes me bi?
(I've never met any trans, etc so I wouldn't know if I would be attracted to them O.o) Texas isn't ... idk at least my area they aren't very accepting
Which is why I'm in the closet >:)

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Dest. Here's to hoping you can move to a more accepting area and won't have to spend a great deal of time in the closet, if that's what you want out of life. :)

Ah, I see now. Hm, I still think my sexuality is fairly rigid - I haven't seen a whole lot of change in it over the years.

This might seem odd but I once had a dream about a transgendered male, I think. There was a penis and boobs.
Best of both worlds, imo. xD

I agree that penis+boobs = best of both worlds. xD I've not had dreams I can remember about trans people, though my own gender/sex varies greatly in dreams.

I'm with you on my gender varying during dreams. The scary dreams I tend to be female and the fun dreams I tend to be male. If that's not saying something about how I feel about my gender I don't know what would. :XD

What about fantasies? If you're comfortable sharing, has your gender/sex been a fluid concept during fantasies?

Haha, really? Wow, I don't think it's like that with me, it seems pretty random anyway. I should try to see if there's a pattern though..
It's the same with fantasies - sometimes I'm male, sometimes I'm female, sometimes I'm both or I switch. When I fancy people I fancy some from a male viewpoint and some from a female's, which can be a bit confusing sometimes. Though ultimately I guess that's more about roles in the relationship I would like to have with a person, it is also usually about wanting to have sex with them as a male or female. And that can be frustrating, since I can't really change so easily there as with gender roles.
I've started fancying people more just as me now, and not as a specific gender or sex.

That's really interesting.

If only changing one's sex were as easy as it is in Ranma 1/2!

I'm pretty happy as a woman, I don't think my gender has every changed in a dream.
And none of my fantasies either, though that's more of a conscious effort sometimes.

Scribbled, you have no idea how often I've wished I could just change sex back and forth when I wanted. e____e
Still. I used to be unhappy with my sex, but now I've come to terms with it since I've sort of.. balanced out more. I've only once seriously considered sex change, but then I realised that part of me would still be unhappy, since I want to be both. So I'd rather make the most of the body I have instead of going through painful and expensive surgery and lots of expensive therapy if I'm not going to be 100% happy then either. At least I have fairly androgynous looks, so I can play either gender pretty easily.

I wish I could say I was happy as a woman but I'm not. I'm used to it, though, and still identify as female. Sometimes I really dislike my body because I can't express gender with it the way I want to. I'd love to be andrygonous.

Edit / Addition:

I have very feminine features and it's hard for me to play with gender. I have to go to extremes, like keeping my hair very, very short and wearing baggy clothing, to even attempt to hide my feminine features. With longer hair it's not possible for me to be mistaken as a man.

I could possibly pass for a male if I put on baggy clothes and cut my hair short. xD
I have always been told I look like my brothers, which actually upsets me.

Haha, I don't have a hard time hiding my feminine assets.
I don't even need that baggy of a t-shirt or jeans.

I'm pretty much a board. Though, I've gotten more since I had my daughter.

I've been able to pass as the other sex a lot.. often without even trying. The only reason I know this though is because of kids shouting "WOW LOOK MOM HE/SHE HAS PINK/PURPLE HAIR!" xD I love kids' reactions to the way I look, it so makes up for the snobby looks I get from some grown-ups.
Heh, I have two brothers.. the youngest looks exactly like our dad, the middle one looks so much like our mum.. when I was a kid I used to look so much like my dad, then when I was a teenager I started looking much more like mum, now I'm like a mixture of the two.

I shaved my head once when I was a kid and everyone mistook me for a boy.
That was before I even started to develop, though.

I have two older brothers and we each have a different dad so if we DO look alike, it's just some similar gene we got from our mom. XD My eldest brother is a redhead and 6ft+ tall. My other brother is more Italian looking. Though, we all got our mom's eyes.

Ah, the joys of a good boob job.

I've always been ample in assets so it does take extra baggy clothing and really buzzing my hair to hide any feminine features I have. It's so frustrating! I've been thinking about buying and experimenting with a chest binder although I haven't worked up the courage to experiment with packing yet.
