Apparently you can bind down even very large chests. If you want to just experiment with binding, you can always use rolls of elastic bandages. Cheaper than buying actual binders, though I think it's not recommended for long term use.
Yes, I've been researching this stuff.. for my dissertation, which I'm not even so sure on anymore. Grr.

Scribbled Lore 09-07-2010 11:58 PM

Your dissertation?

That's a good point. I should look into some directions for this.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 12:03 AM

This is a guide for drag kinging, it has some binding methods. I found it while doing some research a couple of months ago.
Yeah, my BA dissertation. Thesis. Whatever. I was going to do it on the importance of photography for trans people but as I do more research I keep going further away from my topic. Now I don't have a clue how to connect what I'm thinking about back to photography (which is the course I'm doing, so it has to come in to it somehow..). Dx

Estrella 09-08-2010 12:05 AM

My biggest was a C cup when I was preggers. I probably get to the higher end of B during that certain time of month.
But otherwise I'm an A cup. xP I was not blessed with breasts. Which may be why I like them so much.

Soda 09-08-2010 12:13 AM

I've considered using binders before, but purely because my larger chest actually gives me some bad back problems and apparently they greatly reduce the stress. Random extra info.

Hello! Really just wanted to say hi to Lore as I haven't said hello in a bit. Nice to meet you other two. :)

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 12:23 AM

Mmm, breasts. I mean.. uh. >.>
I don't know much about cup sizes, but I know I prefer breasts I can fit in my hand without there being too much extra. But really, I'm not too picky with them, as long as they're not insanely big.

Hey Soda, I think I've talked to you before.. somewhere.. a long time ago. Well, your username is familiar anyway. And I didn't know binders helped back pressure from big breasts. I actually thought it would be uncomfortable to use, at least for long, if you had a bigger chest to bind down?

Soda 09-08-2010 12:38 AM

Hey ljosberinn, in my case I would need a larger binder obviously but provided it was properly fitted they can be used for woman with my issue lol... It would not be as tight of a binder as some one with say C cups. It was first suggested by a Doctor I had asked about my back pain issues.

I don't believe we've ever actually spoken before but I have seen you around as well. Apparently it was never a thread I felt I could add any valuable addition you know? Hang out threads like this I don't think we've crossed paths...

It's possible you remember me from some time ago... I was reasonably active in 2007 for a few months but only recently got into forum posting again recently so.. Regardless we can now say we know each other.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 12:45 AM

Hmm. I was reasonably active back then as well.. I'm sure we've talked at some point. Oh well. At least neither of us remembers it so it's not a super awkward we-used-to-be-really-good-friends-don't-you-remember? situation!

Ugh speaking of back pains, my back is getting tired. I think I should do some exercises and then go to sleep. Night!

Soda 09-08-2010 12:48 AM

No awkwardness is definitely a good thing. Have a good night!

Estrella 09-08-2010 01:22 AM

Hello Soda. Your username actually reminds me of being teased because I use the phrase "soda" rather than "pop." xD

Berrin - Can I call you that? >.> I'm not picky really, either, though I think hugehuge aren't that attractive. I like to see a flow of a body line, not BOOBSBOOBSBOOOBS KNEES. xD

Soda 09-08-2010 01:27 AM

I wasn't aware my name sake could be related to something negative. o.o lol ^^

x.x My self image has just been crushed.

Estrella 09-08-2010 01:30 AM

Oh, it wasn't BAD teasing. Just kind of like "You say soda? That's crazy!" XD

Awh, I didn't mean it like that. D< I'm sorry! I mean, I'm more worried about those women who get the huge boob jobs

Soda 09-08-2010 01:32 AM

Hahaha I wasn't being serious. (on both counts) ^^ I'm terrible for having a dry sense of humor.

I obviously call it Soda as well. :3

Estrella 09-08-2010 03:39 AM

My friend tells me that I have a very black sense of humor. xD
I had no idea what she meant until I look it up.

But I'm glad I didn't really offend.

And I think it's funny to hear it called "pop." Sometimes I say "soda-pop."

I think someone once teased me about saying "wash cloth" instead of "rag" too.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 12:52 PM

I don't know what I call it. Not pop, anyway.. either soda or soft drink.. actually, I usually just call them by their names since I'm usually referring to a specific drink anyway.

Estrella: Please don't. Dx Call me ljos or Pat, please. And haha exactly. Some people like massive breasts, and I'm just not one of them. *shrugs* Leaves more for them, I guess!

Scribbled Lore 09-08-2010 01:13 PM

Aw, well, no love for me, you small boob lovers! Right now, while breastfeeding, I'm wearing a DD in bra size. Normally I'm about a C cup but I'uno if they're gonna shrink back down to size after I'm down nursing the little one.

--

Thanks for the link, Ljosberinn! I think photography is especially important to trans*folk because a good photographer can give them the chance to be photographed as they'd like to express their gender/sex. I mean, that could be something really important to an individual.

And what about trans* models?

--

I'm with Ljosberinn on this one - I just call pop by their individual names like Pepsi or Coke.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 01:44 PM

If I remember correctly, C or D should fit comfortably in my hand. So no complaints there. :D

Yes, that was my thought originally. A lot of trans people use photography to visualize their selves like they want to be seen and that can be very therapeutic. But as I read more about these things I've come to dislike the whole male/female thing, I've started doubting the reasons behind trans behaviour and I've just started thinking differently about gender. I dunno, maybe I should just ignore all that for the time being and focus on my original idea. Or maybe I should make it more about gender and rather talk about people who deliberately fuck with gender in photography. At least then I would have more "professional" photographers and artists to talk about.. I'm just afraid I would wind up in some feminist rant. >.<

Scribbled Lore 09-08-2010 01:49 PM

Hey, feminist rants are some of my favorite things to read!

I think the idea of talking about people who fuck with gender in photography on purpose is a good one. I think it'd make your dissertation easier to write in the long run. Have you talked to your professor or whoever is in charge of helping you with this about your lack of direction?

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 01:55 PM

Yeah, some feminist rants are good. I just don't want my essay to go in that direction so I'd have to be careful. And I agree it would probably make it a lot easier. I haven't yet, I turned in a proposal last spring about the original idea but he didn't really like it so I think he might like this direction more, which is also a plus. Not that I would have changed it just because of that, but it definitely makes things easier when your tutor doesn't openly dislike your ideas.

Estrella 09-08-2010 04:20 PM

lol Pat's easier to type so there it is.

I think the largest I got was a C when I was breast feeding. I'd like to be a C and I've considered a boob job when I'm making mucho bucks working as a pharmacist.

I do refer to them as their name sometimes, too, but often I just generalize because I only drink one or two kinds of soda: Pepsi and Dr Pepper.

I think it's a good idea to shift your dissertation in that direction, Pat. There's a lot of information and examples on how they try to portray gender in the stereotypical ways. I think my sex and gender professor would adore you for it, actually. She got so excited when we started talking about the way they alter photos. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a feminist rant, because they do the same to pictures of males.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 04:36 PM

Well, the whole altering things to make stereotypical gender roles would be a whole different direction. I was thinking more about artists who deliberately take pictures that defy stereotypical gender images and why they do it etc. Though the direction you mention would be really interesting too.
So much research I would have to do all over again though. *sob*

Estrella 09-08-2010 04:40 PM

I totally misunderstood what you were talking about, then. xD
I'm still not sure I understand but that's okay.

And yeah, research is the worst. That's probably the one thing I'm looking forward to when I'm done with school - no more research papers.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 04:52 PM

As in.. photographs for example of feminine men or masculine women and androgynous people, as well as trans people. What they are trying to say with their work, why they would make work like that, etc. I would definitely touch on the whole stereotypical images made as well, for contrast. But this way I would probably focus on a few photographers and their work, I'd just have to find which ones.

Estrella 09-08-2010 05:00 PM

Ohhh, I gotcha. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea too though I'm a friggin' bum so I like to go with what's easier to research.

ljosberinn 09-08-2010 05:04 PM

I'm a friggin' artist so I always go with the most complicated idea possible just because it sounds so cool and interesting.. then I end up ditching it for an easier one because I can't be bothered with the complications.. e____e
