Here's hoping! Are there things we can do to attract new people?

amayakumiko 08-01-2010 10:53 PM

Naked Dance Party? j/k

Scribbled Lore 08-01-2010 11:00 PM

Amaya is joking but I'm sure it'd work.

amayakumiko 08-01-2010 11:02 PM

I think the best way to include people would be to kinda keep things open and more inclusive. I mean, talking about pregnancy cravings and hollow legs aren't really relevant to the majority of people who are going to click on this thread. Yanno?

Perhaps you could have weekly questions/or debates or just post convo starting links that are relevant to the GLBT cause? It would be a way to get a convo started and changing the main topic (but keeping the others listed) would be a good way to get people to come back every week, and keep the thread from dying.

and with that i'm outie. be back later tonight!

From what I understand, the term was re-acquired by queers in the 1990s, rather the way hip-hop artists use "nigger." Both words have such a long history that their use by the communities to which they were initially derogatorily applied now takes on an uncomfortable aspect for those outside those groups.

*wonders if that made any sense*

Yo, great thread!

the antitwite 08-01-2010 11:20 PM

Hi hi :3

Historically, it's gone either way. I usually see it LGBT, but GLBT was around in the early 2000s, to my recollection.

Boobical_Ribs 08-02-2010 12:43 AM

Oh.
Okay.
It seems you really do learn something everyday.
:D

Kiako 08-02-2010 12:46 AM

How are you Ribs?

Scribbled Lore 08-02-2010 12:48 AM

Hey there everyone!

Y'know, I think Amaya has a good point - would everyone here be interested in a different discussion topic every week? What else do you think would help spruce up the thread?

Boobical_Ribs 08-02-2010 12:48 AM

Im pretty good.
I saw a movie today.
It was Charlie St. Cloud.
It was a good movie.
But its one of those things that make you over think.
D:
How are you?

amayakumiko 08-02-2010 01:04 AM

Good Evening All!

Scribbled Lore 08-02-2010 01:09 AM

Hey there, Amaya! I've been wondering.. want to go hit up Talbot sometime?

----------

Actually... click here plz

Totally did not realize we had a gay bar in M-town.

amayakumiko 08-02-2010 01:15 AM

... Yes? I am only slightly aware of what you are talking about. Talbot Street, right? The Gay Bar? Hellz yeah. I really just wanted to post that link. I think its fitting.

Boobical_Ribs 08-02-2010 01:16 AM

Friday seems like its a century away!
D:

Scribbled Lore 08-02-2010 01:19 AM

Noo, Ribs! It's only like half a century away! What's on Friday?

--

Yes, or the place in Muncie or any other bar and/or club in Indy that caters to our crowd. Hahah, we have a crowd.

amayakumiko 08-02-2010 01:19 AM

@ ribs lol. It might be fbetter to think about it in negatives. Friday is -2 days away, that sort of thing.
Do you have anything special going on?

----------

@ scrib yes. either, any, all. It doesn't matter all that much.

Scribbled Lore 08-02-2010 01:22 AM

The place in M-town seems the most accessible if you ask me but I'm totally anti-social and nervous about my first trip to a bar. Yes, yes, first trip to a bar or club. :stare:

Boobical_Ribs 08-02-2010 01:22 AM

Yes i have something special.
Im hanging out with Alison that day.
We were supposed to hangout today.
But she had to cancel.
So i havent seen her since last Saturday.
D:
Its hard being two years younger than the person you love and adore

Scribbled Lore 08-02-2010 01:23 AM

Aw, that does suck. I'm sorry you couldn't see her today. Here's to Friday then for Ribs!
