How would you move it over though? Or are you just saying install the CD you already have or...what?

If you've ever bought an OS, you have a disc.
You'd just need to remove it from the old computer first, in order to free up the serial.
Well, unless it doesn't require even that, I don't think they do anyway.

If you've bought a computer from a retailer more recently though, you wouldn't get an OS disc, cause people were mass pirating them and reusing them with new computers etc.

I had to click re-download for my virus protection off the websites since my disc does not work with Windows 7. I did not know how to find the correct driver so I did it that way which was easy.

I'm just still pissy that my CD/DVD drive's "gone."

How is it "gone"?

FYI, you can just get a new internal drive and replace it yourself for like, $20, xD; Just hook the cables up the same way, make sure the little jumper pin on the back is set to the same setting, and ta da!

Buggy automatic Microsoft update, I think. Don't know when it happened, all I know is that it was between August 10 and 19. I've been looking around for solutions, even deleting some "Upper and Lower Filters." Screwed myself over when I deleted older updates beforehand (for rollbacks) in order to free up space on my laptop, so there you have it.

Did you try rolling it back to before it disappeared?

It was after I deleted my rollbacks, so I had nothing to go back to.

You could return it to the original state. You would lose everything though. I would die without rollback. I screwed up my old computer so bad I made it where I had no way of getting on the internet because I deleted msn messenger. It had some embedded file that allowed for internet hook-up.

I believe that happened to me with my old desktop/second computer (not able to access the Internet). I deleted Internet Explorer.

I have an external drive to move everything to though so I could just put it all back in later. Would erasing the computer back to factory settings make it be faster again?

It should since it deletes almost everything you have ever put on it.
