Crazy, if you have a Mac, there's a little application called "Digial Color Meter" that does exactly what you're describing. It comes with the computer; I think it's in the Utilities folder.

Five days and almost 500 pages.

Also, if you use Firefox (and you should be, who even uses IE anymore? XD) then you can add the Colorzilla add on that does pretty much exactly what Crazy wants.
