OH! *fail* I forgot next Saturday is Christmas! as it is I forgot yesterday was Friday and my mom had surgery on Friday. it didn't even chime into my brain until today when mom called me to tell me she was doing okay. dude, talk about feeling like a heel.

Well, she was diagnosed with PDD. But I'm a little confused because I've also heard of it referred to as the "PDD spectrum". So is autism a part of PDD, vice-versa?

pretty much PDD is an umbrella diagnosis that Autism and other such issues are under. there is also PDD-NOS which is another level of confusion for me. but basically, it's one of those things where if you have autism you have to have PDD but just because you have PDD doesn't mean you have to have autism.

crazymuch: Ahhhh, I see. Well I know she doesn't have Asperger's Syndrome, though she might share some of the same traits. I don't know much about Asperger's but one of my friends in college does have a touch of it. He sometimes has problems with social interaction, etc.
