My typical response is "You people"... it infuriates people... yet people want a gender neutral response half the time so I just can't win.

Amane 03-28-2015 06:21 AM

Sometimes I say "folks."

The Wandering Poet 03-28-2015 06:27 AM

Folks is a good one. Especially if you're going to say "Old folks"

Amane 03-28-2015 06:39 PM

Only on the Internet. I say "you guys" or "you all" in real life.

The Wandering Poet 03-28-2015 09:11 PM

I say "you people" to my parents a lot... my mom gets really mad when I do that...
Otherwise I typically only talk to one person at a time so "you" works fine.

Amane 03-28-2015 10:21 PM

I call my family "you people" when I'm trying to get them to understand that they're annoying me.

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 07:16 AM

I would use "You guys" or "you girls" but with things how they are, some people are the opposite gender of their body, some have no gender, and some are their birth gender. "You people" lets me avoid that awkwardness 2/3 of the time... cause birth gender people always look at me funny.

I mean i have nothing against people and their gender preference, but I wish it wasn't so complicated.

Amane 03-29-2015 07:17 AM

I don't run into people who are educated on those matters, so they don't care if I say "you guys."

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 07:23 AM

I seem to run into a lot of various-gendered people online lately.
Personally I'm called he, she, it, them, whatever they want and I'll roll with it. Heck, my girlfriend calls me a cookie. Works for me. I am now a chocolate chip cookie. (To her anyways)

Amane 03-29-2015 07:30 AM

LOVE IT. [rofl]

On the Internet? Sure. Lots of genderfluids and nonbinaries. No one complains about "you guys," though. Or even me tacking "man" onto the end of a statement.

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 07:46 AM

Really? I've had people get upset at me for adding gender based things.

Amane 03-29-2015 03:48 PM

They really should tell you that they don't like it before flipping out like you're trying to insult them. [sweat]

Once a boy told me not to say "bro" because it makes me sound like a guy. I said, "Okay, man."

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 04:51 PM

You'd think...

What really gets me confused is trans people. I mean... I'm all for calling you the right gender, but it's really complicated trying to figure out what gender they are/want to be.
There's too much "I am this but I'm this, and will be this but until this I am that"

Amane 03-29-2015 04:52 PM

Avoid at all costs. [rofl]

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 04:59 PM

The only people I avoid are annoying loud extroverted people. They have no concept of boundaries D:

Otherwise I've always tried to be tolerable, or in extreme cases, hate everyone fairly and equally.

Amane 03-29-2015 05:00 PM

I mean, avoid any word that sounds like a gender implication.

ME TOO!!! Loud ppl are like the sound of nails on a chalboard to my ears [headdesk][chair][wall][swear][bleh]

Amane 03-29-2015 05:08 PM

I like fingernails on a chalkboard. *audience gasps*

Bishalisious 03-29-2015 05:09 PM

Noooo...thats a terrible sound [squee]

Amane 03-29-2015 05:16 PM

This fad of using [squee] as a tantrum emoticon is very confusing. [rofl]

Bishalisious 03-29-2015 05:37 PM

Whaaaa??? So u've nvr thrown a tantrum or seen others (especially) children throw 1? I promise you, ALOT of arm flailing goes down [squee][brow]

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 05:56 PM

It's quite true... squee and tantrum look the same... only difference is the noise they make and the foot stomping.

Amane 03-29-2015 06:22 PM

But there's a little happy mouth on [squee] that I notice really well, so it looks weird when people use it as a tantrum face. XD

The Wandering Poet 03-29-2015 06:51 PM

People making tantrums make funny faces?

Amane 03-29-2015 06:55 PM

I don't think :D is one of them.
