We're doing that.. They won't even answer us.
*sigh* Thankyou though. I just needed to rant a little. |
Rant away, dearie. That's what we're all here for.
|
Thanks again.
|
Well, as it's 6pm and I haven't done a minute of actual "work" today I should probably log off Mene and do some writing...
|
Lol. Have fun S.
|
Meh. I worked. I organized what I wanted to write into a bit of an outline. It's a version of a paper I've now written about five times (for various outlets -- presentations, courses, grant proposals, etc.), and though this time it's for an actual academic journal, I'm having trouble getting up any enthusiasm for yet another version. Probably because under that category of "grant proposals" lies TEN PAPERS.
Imagine writing the same paper about fifteen times, each time just a little bit different to satisfy your audience, and you can probably understand my frustration... I don't do well with repetition. I'm a musician. When I practice, I start at the beginning and work out the kinks little by little... Sorry, I'm slightly drunk, so I'm ranting. Yay Chu-hai! (and if you don't know what chu-hai is, you are seriously missing out on life.) |
OK, so on the saturday, we did a MASSIVE hike up a mountain to a hut that my great grandfather helped build WAAAYYY back in the day. 1.4km elevation above sea level, and a total of 10km hiked, 5km each way up and down. Some gnarly stuff in there, almost vertical slopes to traverse, goat paths or no cut path for most of it, just markers to get to the next point on the trail. Never have i done anything like that before! I nearly passed out part way up, was dizzy and light headed, sat down for 5mins or so to one side to catch my breath. But i got extremely sunburnt on my arms, shoulders, neck and face, and even my legs a little bit too, was quite surprising, and im peeling skin today! :( Such is life, at least now im not loosing multiple layers of skin at once and the blisters have gone!
After comming back down though, we went back to the place we were staying, showered, rested up briefly, and then that night had my grandmothers 80th birthday party with all the extended family there, most of whom hiked up the mountain with us that day too! Met a lot of new family i never knew i had, and a couple of them seemed ok (for kiwi's!). Anywho, when photos are put up from the trip, ill post some up here because i didnt take any myself since my phone was dead the entire time. Sensia, possibly, if you do get hold of some one, tell them that if they cant provide some sort of assistance, or get you to some one who can, then tell them your next step is to try talking to the regulatory body for fair trading, i think its the ACCC, but double check that? Sometimes the threat is enough to make them solve the problem just so that you dont. Remember, you agreed to a contract with the company that made the game, that certain things would be provided, including working customer support and delivery of goods/services when purchased. If they will not provide these things, they are in breech of contract and should be held accountable. Im sure theres an actual process for having which ever regulatory body it is deal with these kinds of 'mishaps' that seem to happen quite often. The only hitch to that, that i can see, is that EA Games isnt based here i dont think, theyd claim theyre a US based company or something and out of jurisdiction. They may have Australian based facilities or something though? Not sure. The ACCC may even turn around and say they cant help there if thats the case? And fleeting greetings to you Scholar! Im now off to bed because ive got work in the morning! >_< Friday will be a welcomed sleep in i think! :P Linn, was thinking thats what you were going for! Those ankle bracelet things, the bronze ones or what ever they are, do they make them for the wrist too? If so, all i need is an orange chest hair piece, and i believe i have an avi in mind! |
Fleeting greetings to you, too, Assassin! Sounds like you had an exciting day.
Yup, Sensia, just stand up for your rights if you can. The firm, polite, and unwavering approach has always worked for me. I've gotten surprising discounts at big department stores just be saying something like, "Oh, is that how much it costs? Hm, I don't know..." and then suddenly the cashier would say, "Oh, well, how about I give you the employee discount..." |

and what do you have in mind?? O_o gotta go to work now! ta ta! |
Well, im just going to keep that one under my hat at the moment, but i would like to get hold of that item that makes you skin that shade of green, or theres another one that does a similar colour i think? Either way, for either of the two avi's in mind, i need the bright green shade skin, the zombie skin one just doesnt cut it.
|
the green skin is from the hissy fit contribution item :) can't wait to see whatcha come up with!
and i read the bit about your trip... sunburned all over the place :O hehehe beef jerky  ..... i just grossed myself out :stare: |
Beef Jerky? Im not seeing the connection?
And yes, sunburnt so bad. Most of it came off in the shower last night with some help thankfully! |
beef jerky was in reference to your chunks of skin falling off cause of the sunburn
|
Ahh ok, lol, thats nasty! *cringes* because i like jerky too!
... im never going to look at jerky the same way again now! >_<' |
i like it too and i have every intention of eating it still :D
|
Oh, ill still be eating it, ill just think of peeling skin every now and then when i look at it! ^_^
Its next to impossible to put me off food, especially if im already eating it! |
oh me too! people always get grossed out by talking about how this is made and what such a thing is made from, etc. etc... but not me! if it tastes good, i eat it!
|
hahaha yeah i had a friend put something on FB not long ago about how pigs and dogs were both animals, but its ok to eat one but not the other and how much of a double standard that is.
Some one posted that if dogs tasted like bacon, theyd eat them too, and i had to agree! :P |
HA! that's is totally true!
|
Speaking of which, the other day I was ordering food in a Spanish-style restaurant here, basing it on the pictures since I couldn't be arsed to whip out my dictionary and look up the kanji, and also I don't read spanish. What looked like chicken in the picture turned out to be...
豚耳 that reads pig, then ear. Pig's ear. And this was AFTER I'd had my first few bites and was thinking, "Hm, this is a new flavor, new texture... it's more like a fatty fish than meat... what is it actually...? Oh." I finished most of it, but I feel kind of funny inside about having eaten it... |
we have these treats we give dogs around here and it's dehydrated pigs ears... they love to gnaw on them!
and i've eaten cow's tongue... i did it knowingly too... not too bad actually, really tender :P |
I hate the thought of eating dog meat, they're such loveable creatures when alive.
|
Ive eaten some weird stuff. I have a certificate from when i went to Zimbabwe that says i ate a mopani grub, which is sort of like a witchety grub here in Aus i guess? Tasted awful, very earthy flavour, very gritty texture, overall, not pleasant. I did eat a heap of different animals though at the restaurant i was at; warthog, ostrich, alligator, buffalo, ones i cant even remember. Was awesome, and they were cooked REALLY nicely!
|
Oh, ew. My first day back and this is what I get?
Nasty foodses. Hi All! |
BEARZY! *tacklehugs*
