Ooh I hate those. You get bored, then accidentally end up getting bad grades because you just don't care.

Snowin 02-15-2011 10:58 PM

Yeah... those can be really... well... boring.

Hyena 02-15-2011 11:01 PM

Coincidentally, "blargh" can also be the sound of laundry and dishes to be done. What a wonderful, versatile example of onomotopoeia!

I spelled it wrong.

But that's OKAY!

Snowin 02-15-2011 11:12 PM

"Omnomotopadfsfa" I can't spell it either... gave up halfway through... and yes, there's an Omnom in it for a reason.

Also, Hyena, I'm reading The Bend right now... the banner won me over... and I must say, it is epic.

sidrabutterfly 02-15-2011 11:18 PM

Isn't though. I'm real excited to see what's gonna happen next. I wish I could actually draw a comic myself. I'm still working on getting my characters consistent. XD

sarofset 02-15-2011 11:26 PM

I have the same problem. So I'm writing pulp fiction instead. It's fun. So much action you could puke. :)

Snowin 02-15-2011 11:29 PM

I'm only on chapter 3 though... it's epic so far...
Also: Pulp Fiction is neat. I like action... as long as it's not too fast-paced...

Hyena 02-15-2011 11:36 PM

Mmmm... Omnomonomonomutopia.

The way I made my characters consistent is I wrote a novel about them first. That's the long way around. xD

I enjoy Pulp Fiction and action, but I have a soft spot for humor. I mean, I love a good epic, but if it doesn't have that element of humor I lose interest.

Unless there's psychology involved. Jung is listed amongst the author's inspirations, I'm like "tell me more!" =DDD

sidrabutterfly 02-15-2011 11:41 PM

No I mean drawing them consistently. I'm pretty good at character development, but if you looked at several pictures of one character you'd be like - "That's the person? Really? Are you sure?"
I'm getting better though! I'm just drawing their faces over, and over again until they look how I want.

Snowin 02-15-2011 11:51 PM

Ah, I have that problem too... drawing consistantly... although it's gotten better.

Alas, I must go sleep now, midnight in 10 minutes and an early day tomorrow... yeah... GMT = stupid when you need sleep but don't want to... But it could be worse...
Good night everyone~~.

sidrabutterfly 02-15-2011 11:53 PM

Good night Snowin! Have sweet dreams!

sarofset 02-15-2011 11:54 PM

I knew what you meant. lol. I write, because I just plain can't freaking draw well enough yet to do a comic. Even a simplistic one. Most web comics are fairly simple (okay, maybe something like XKCD) but I still don't think I'm ready for that.

Wait, wait, wait. You are related to Dick Whitington?
You are like, King of Pantomime :o

fairywaif 02-16-2011 12:20 AM

Even XKCD has a certain style to each character though. I know that when I draw stick figures they don't look like that.

sarofset 02-16-2011 12:28 AM

@Cardinal:... what do you mean?

@Fairy: True. I have a definite style when I'm writing, but it's not developed in my drawing.

Cardinal Biggles 02-16-2011 12:40 AM

Puss and Boots! Dick Whittington!
The legend of the cat that helped keep him in London is part of the lore behind the perennial pantomime favourite, Puss in Boots.

Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Wh...on_and_His_Cat

Edit: it doesn't mention Puss and Boots in that article though. I'm starting to get confused :gonk:

TaiyoTsuki 02-16-2011 12:41 AM

When I'm drawing I just act like I'm writing my story, then only put in the dialogue. Makes it a lot easier. That, and I'm really good at drawing what's in my head.

sarofset 02-16-2011 12:51 AM

Wish I could do the same. I'm okay at drawing, much better at painting.

Cardinal Biggles 02-16-2011 12:53 AM

Are they two different Pantos? I don't care, the stories are so similar, there's no way they couldn't have influenced each other.

sarofset 02-16-2011 12:56 AM

I'm not sure. I haven't read the stories myself, this is all stuff, my mother has told me.

Cardinal Biggles 02-16-2011 01:02 AM

-researches-
Well, this makes it sound like they are two different ones:

Quote:

The story makes a fine pantomime, as it has such an intricate plot, yet it may be some sign of the times that my analysis of British pantomimes in the last few years has shown that Puss in Boots has played but a handful of times, compared with Dick Whittington and his Cat, which is always in the top five, along with Aladdin and Cinderella. This is odd, for Puss in Boots (like Kathleen Hale’s Orlando) makes things happen, while Dick Whittington’s cat (like Graham Oakley’s Sampson) is content to react to circumstances.
From here:
Fern House - Rodney Dale Books - Puss In Boots

But I distinctly recall a Monty python sketch where Pantomime is being discussed, and Dick Whittington is being discussed, as well as "Puss". Is his cat called Puss too, then? Oh, so confusing. We need some Brits to sort this out.

sidrabutterfly 02-16-2011 01:04 AM

Well I thought "puss" was just another name for a cat, like Kitty.

Cardinal Biggles 02-16-2011 01:12 AM

It is. It's just damn confusing to have two very similar characters in two different pantos have the same name.

TaiyoTsuki 02-16-2011 01:51 AM

I know this is really random, but...want to guess my cosplay?

Hyena 02-16-2011 01:53 AM

Sorry about disappearing. Liz burrowed herself into a pillow fort and invited me in. I could not resist the call.

Is Taiyo Tuxedo Mask? =DD
