cuppycake_geek 04-06-2011 12:04 AM

I think I dare not look it up

sarofset 04-06-2011 02:58 AM

Aww. You would find it amusing. lol.

TaiyoTsuki 04-06-2011 03:36 AM

What song are you guys talking about?

And I'm assuming you guys can see the difference in my avvie.

sarofset 04-06-2011 03:49 AM

YouTube - Sasuke Cuppycake

This one. lol. It's obscenely cute.

cuppycake_geek 04-06-2011 04:19 AM

ok I might go watch it but when I feel better

BlackSwan317 04-06-2011 05:02 AM

It's really short. It wont take up much time. To be honest it kinda grated on me, but I don't like high pitched fake children's voices. I can see where other people would find it very cute though, and the lyric to clip match up is quite amusing ^_^

cuppycake_geek 04-06-2011 05:05 AM

guh I have now added a new layer of nastiness to my illness

Hyena 04-10-2011 11:35 PM

I managed to spend the whole day outside in the sun. o_o

My pasty white nerd skin protested.

BlackSwan317 04-11-2011 01:24 AM

Yay sunshine! Us nocturnals need to revel in it every now and again

TaiyoTsuki 04-11-2011 01:50 AM

True.

Though...I got a rather nasty sunburn a couple years ago. And it was caused by my own stupidity too--didn't put any sunblock on.

sarofset 04-11-2011 02:02 AM

meh. Sunburns are really no big deal. Everyone says they'll give you skin cancer, but they're no worse than a scrape, zit or bug bite on that front.

cuppycake_geek 04-11-2011 04:01 AM

I hate when I get sunburns cause they always blister. I wish the sun would have stayed for more then a few hours today

Hyena 04-11-2011 08:39 PM

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, five or more serious sunburns can double the chances of a person developing melanoma.

Source: The Skin Cancer Foundation - Facts about Sunburn and Skin Cancer | sunburn

Additionally, because of my family's medical history, I am at risk for skin cancer. So, as a result, I am encouraged to seek precautions when I can. I avoid sunburns whenever possible.

BlackSwan317 04-11-2011 09:28 PM

I just avoid them cause they hurt hella bad :-P also, I'm a ginger, so, they seek me out extra hard. Regardless, I don't blame you for avoiding them, they just suck all around. Then that god awful itchy peeling after they start to heal... yick... makes me feel like a snake

Hyena 04-11-2011 09:38 PM

It just makes me feel miserable. I'm prone to sun poisoning. I may not be a ginger, but... I'm german/french/brit enough for this to be a serious problem. >___>

sarofset 04-11-2011 09:44 PM

Cancer in the skin is caused by anything which causes swelling in the skin. Sunburns, pimples, cuts and scrapes etc. And their study found correlation, not causation. It's meant to sell sunblock.

Hyena 04-11-2011 09:57 PM

And while that may be true, sunblock is still a preventative measure. Skin conditions are hard to control, and acne can occur in adults. Cuts and scrapes are going to happen no matter how careful you are. If I can rule out one factor, then I am going to do it.

Additionally, as I stated earlier, I am prone to sun poisoning. That is one thing that is definitely prevented by sunblock, even if your statement on skin cancer is true.

sarofset 04-11-2011 10:06 PM

sunpoisoning is a sunburn that happens within fifteen minutes of sun exposure. I'm not saying sunburns aren't a bad thing, I'm saying they don't "cause" skin cancer like people say they do. Going outside is good for you. It's the only way to get vitamin D. Without vitamin D you die.

Hyena 04-11-2011 10:19 PM

And I go outside. But I also wear sunscreen to avoid damaging my skin and to keep me from getting sick. I'm confused, again, where the argument is here.

sarofset 04-11-2011 10:56 PM

There wasn't one. lol.

I was just meaning to say that a sunburn is not a death sentence. I get them all the time. I have had serious ones too. The real trick to avoiding cancer with my kind of skin is to get any new mole that looks funny checked.

It sounds like you have really fair skin huh?

Hyena 04-11-2011 11:11 PM

It just seemed kind of odd because you mentioned a statement on skin cancer completely unprompted. o_o

I'm a german/french/brit American whose job requires sleeping during the day. Fair-skinned doesn't begin to describe it:

I am having such a hard time biting my tongue right now. So, while I would like to actually have a discussion with my friend on the topic at hand, for sake of not being a dick to anyone else, as I'm in a very foul mood, I'll digress and return to my own threads.

sarofset 04-12-2011 12:16 AM

Ah. You're almost as white as I am dear. :) German, English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, possibly some French, etc. Though When I tan I do so beautifully, because of the tiny bit of Italian I have. I get burnt to a cinder once, and after that I only turn a little red. I do get heat stroke though, if I don't drink enough water. I prefer the night time anyway though, so it's really fine.

Hyena 04-12-2011 12:23 AM

Ah. I see.
