Since you brought up Lemarck... and because this is a thread about comics, I thought I would share this:

T'was my desktop wallpaper for a while.

Hyena 02-14-2011 04:09 AM

xDDDD Biggles, that was hilarious.

Uhhh.... heritage. We all came over on the Mayflower. German-blooded Englishmen. And then Miami Indian, as well as some Irish immigrant in there. I'm such a blue-blood.

sarofset 02-14-2011 07:29 PM

...That would make you a rich person. Are you a rich person?

Hyena 02-14-2011 10:13 PM

We have money, but we have it growing in investments, like land. I inherited a tree farm from my grandpa, which paid for my education. I'm not rich; I'm well-off.

sarofset 02-14-2011 10:15 PM

Blue bloods refers to people who are wealthy yacht club types. lol.

Hyena 02-15-2011 12:26 AM

Blue-bloods can also refer to those that came over on the Mayflower. People like my family have money because they have been around for a long time and invested wisely. On the other hand, there's also the Nouveau Riche: people who became rich within their generation.

The textbook definition of a blue-blood is someone of noble or aristocratic descent or of a particularly prominent family. Which I am. It has nothing to do with money.

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 01:13 AM

So...then if one of my books got me a lot of money, that would make me Nouveau Riche...right?

Hyena 02-15-2011 01:36 AM

Technically, yes. If you became able to live well beyond your means within your generation and not because of inheritance (which is sort of the case for me, though mine is all in the bank for a reason) then you would be considered the Nouveau Riche.

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 02:18 AM

It would also be giving a lot of unsavory people in my life (*coughs*bitchgrandma*coughs*) a big "FUCK YOU!!!" without actually having to say "fuck you".

sidrabutterfly 02-15-2011 04:52 PM

Hmm. On the question of peoples backrounds...
I have some relatives who decided to look up their genology so I actually have quite a lot of information on my heritage.
I'm definitely English. I believe I have some German. And maybe Irish, I have a great-grandmother with the last name of McDonnell.

On a fascinating not I'm related to an English knight, and to the Proctors of Salem witch trial fame. I come from Mr.Procter's sister's line.

sarofset 02-15-2011 06:08 PM

Interesting. I'm related to Richard Whitington, thrice lord mayor of London, who died in the poorhouse. As well as two signers of the declaration of independence. :)

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 06:57 PM

Wow. I believe in my dad's line somewhere in the Scottish line I'm related to former pirates, and vikings due to the Black Norse. The only interesting thing on my mom's side of the family is the fact that they used to own a cheese factory...

Yep, my dad's side is the only one with interesting fun facts.

sarofset 02-15-2011 07:02 PM

All my cool stuff is on my mom's side. My dad's side has the mob I think, but I can never be sure.

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 07:11 PM

Yeah...I don't think anyone on my mom's side wants anything really exciting in the family. In other words, if you were to compare both sides of my family to colors, my dad's got plenty color, and my mom's side is just flat gray. With any luck, I'll be able to add yet another splash to my dad's side of the family and FINALLY give my mom's side of the family something to talk about, other than just staying in the same place for knows how many generations.

I even think I'm gonna be the only family member to physically live in another country. And mind you, they're having enough of a fit with me on the other end of the state. Imagine what it'll be like when I'm overseas! :XD

sarofset 02-15-2011 07:37 PM

lol. Overprotective? My girlfriend's mother has a tendency to worry if she stays out too late... she's twenty one years old dude. I think it might be a control thing.

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 08:07 PM

Well, the thing is, NOBODY in my mom's family lives more than TWENTY STINKING MILES from where my great- or great-great-grandparents settled, and apparently it'll be an unfogivable sin to move farther away from that. Well, that, and my bitch of a grandmother wants EVERYONE to be ideal for her.

sarofset 02-15-2011 08:16 PM

Screw her. She's old. Do what's good for you. Unless you owe her for some reason, there's no reason to worry about how she feels about where you live.

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 09:25 PM

She does. Simply put, she doesn't want me to even leave the TOWN i grew up in. No. Freaking. WAY am I staying in one place for my entire life!

Snowin 02-15-2011 10:00 PM

*pops in* 'Ello people... how are things going?

TaiyoTsuki 02-15-2011 10:28 PM

Blargh.....

Snowin 02-15-2011 10:37 PM

Oh... okay ^^
Blargh... that just reminds me I still have homework to do...

fairywaif 02-15-2011 10:41 PM

I love how blargh=homework.

sidrabutterfly 02-15-2011 10:42 PM

Makes sense to me. It is the sound one's soul makes when they are forced to perform work at home for their teachers.

Snowin 02-15-2011 10:45 PM

Of course. It is the sound of pain and suffering, and doubles as a funny noise at times.

sarofset 02-15-2011 10:49 PM

I have a class about which I already know everything. XD
