Quick question: Anybody seen The Lorax movie and is it as good as they say it is? :eager:
YES! YES IT IS!
Well okay, to break it down as a stand-alone movie it's fairly decent. The storyline is a tad weak but the visuals are beautiful, the music in my opinion is very catchy (really it's been on repeat for the last week or so for me), and everything about The Once-ler is adorable in every possible way. When I vaguely compare it to the book, I find I enjoy the movie's ending much more as it's more of I guess fuller ending. It's still bittersweet but compared to the bitter/gloomy ending of the book where nothing really changes, I prefer the movie. However if you remember it well/love the book or the special they made a few years back and like it, then as it is with any adaptation, it's gonna basically boil down to Love it or Hate it. See when you step back and look at it, they really changed alot of from the book. The entire story in the book is roughly oh about 15 minutes of the entire movie. The expansion on other characters means the main character like The Lorax gets even less screentime. So bottom line: In my opinion Was it a good movie? Yes Is it worth seeing? Yes Does it hold true to the book? Not exactly Could it use some work? Probably. There are a few reasons/ideals/plot holes that could have made stronger or expanded on. Storyline good? Decent enough for a kid's movie but probably predictable to a grown adult. Funny? Yes Visual? Wonderful 3D? Eh, 2D was more then enough. Would I buy the movie when it comes out? Yes |
Okay, that settles it! I'll start rummaging for loose change around the house until I have enough for a movie ticket :XD
Maaan, all these sexy Once-ler fanarts on tumblr... |
xD YES YES GO FOR IT!
*snickers* isn't he just dreamy? I think half the reason why I'm obsessed with the movie is because of him. xD Oh yes, as far as the characters go in the movie, the only really good ones are The Once-ler and The Lorax. The rest kinda just... I dunno. Granny was good though. |
I remember when the Lorax trailers started showing last year they showed a kid in it. Was that the Once-ler when he was a kid?
Nah. That small kid is Ted. He's the nameless boy in the book.
So the story in the movie is divided into two storylines: The Once-ler and Lorax story and Ted's story. So basically they expanded on Ted, the world he lives in, why he wants to know about trees and sought out the The Once-ler. Personally, Ted's story is where it felt the weakest (and probably the biggest reason why loyal fans to the book/tv special hate the movie with great passion). |
I never saw The Lorax >_>
xD It's a grey area. I can sing praises to you endlessly but it's just one of those movies where you either love it or hate it.
Citrus! Let's watch The Lorax together!
Yes!! 8D DOOOO EEET!
<_< The only Dr. Suess adaption I've seen is Horton Hears a Who. I loved it, especially the anime reference.
WATCH ME TUMBLE! |
xD I actually didn't get a chance to watch that one. But then again Horton's one is probably the only book from Dr. Seuss that I wasn't in love with...
It's really funny though! Especially Mayor McDodd  Poor guy. That fishbowl scene was hilarious!
xD One day I'll see it. It'll play on tv one day xD
I loved the animated specials as a kid and Horton was among them.
Hmmm also think the tv specials of Horton was another one I didn't see. xD Horton got no love from me. xDD
The only Dr. Seuss TV special I ever got to see was The Grinch. They played it every Christmas. But I loved reading Green Eggs and Ham and One Fish, Two Fish whenever I went to my pediatrician's clinic for a check-up :)
Green Eggs and Ham was made of win. It was hilarious listening to the guy getting increasingly angry with Sam I Am
Yeah! but it also made me really, really want to try the kind of ham they had. I never saw that kind of cut of ham until I moved to the U.S.
When I was in kindergarten we had green eggs and ham. It was just said foods dyed with green food coloring.
xD I loved Green Eggs and Ham. That was my first introduction. I always saw Grinch at christmas time too! 8D
