That it most certainly is.

Kukon 09-08-2011 11:44 AM

Why do you have so much gold? Just saving?

Silenia 09-08-2011 11:50 AM

Used to be working on getting at least one of each item there is on this site, hence me saving up before my Hiatus. On top of that, I ran a HUGE charity, and while some of its funds are indeed at the charity mule, I highly prefer having funds at my main too, so that I can refill the charity mule's funds when necessary. Simply because of the rules - funds on a charity mule can only be used for charity and charity-related stuff (such as buying items for charity), whereas funds on my main can be used for everything that is allowed on-site. So it's better to have to refill your charity mule's funds from time to time than to send huge amounts over there so that you keep running out of personal funds whenever you actually need them. It's kind of semantics, for its funds earned by the same person... but if you'd compare it to bank accounts, I'd say that I prefer keeping a good chunk of my money on an account where I can actually use it and move it around when necessary, rather than keep it stuck somewhere on an account for a specific purpose while I might need it for other purposes.

Of course, donations made to me that are/were for charity are send to the charity mule if the donator didn't send them there themselves.

Oh, and I usually am on at least a few quests for some of my Mene friends. I guess I am just used to having quite a bit of gold around. Kind of necessary when working on several quests simultanously while running a charity. xD

Not that I currently am running a charity, though. Will do so again in the future, but I currently do not have access to my mules, personal and charity mule both, so I am waiting to hear back from support before I start the whole thing up again.

Kukon 09-08-2011 11:51 AM

Oh I see, thank you for the information. :)

I didn't know you couldn't do that stuff with mules.

Silenia 09-08-2011 11:56 AM

With a normal, personal mule, you can.

However, there are specific rules for charity mules - or at least, there were last time I checked, which would be before my hiatus - about what is/isn't allowed. It's basically to make sure that a charity is indeed a charity, not a gold/item-gaining way for its owner.

EDIT: Ah, found it.
Quote:

Also, if charity owners are found to be profiting from their charity donation funds, they will be automatically banned for scamming. If a user is found to be cheating charity owners or other users, you will be banned. Scamming and cheating will result in banning.
Quote:

First and foremost; if you already have two accounts please do NOT create a charity mule without first being given permission by the staff.
The mule must be for charity use only. It cannot be used for personal gain.
If you post or play games on it the gold earned must go to your charity.
If you collect event items or free commemorative items on it they must go to the charity.
If you want to sell items from your main/mule to your charity account instead of just donating them, then you cannot charge your charity more than store/current mpg value.
The real world term for this kind of practice is embezzlement; we don't take kindly to that kind of thing here so if you do it you will get a ban for scamming.

Basically you have to treat your charity mule as totally separate from your own account(s). You cannot use it as a third account to collect items or to earn gold for yourself as this is in direct violation of our rules. Once items or gold are earned by or sent to the charity mule they must stay on that account and can only be used for the charity.
As you can see, there's a specific set for charity mules.

That's basically why I prefer keeping undecided funds - the kind of, is not specifically meant for charity from the start, wasn't donated to me for charity, etc. - on my own account until I decide I need/want them for charity.

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:03 PM

Yeah I understand, does not cause unneeded hassles if you do it that way.

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:11 PM

Exactly. As long as I make sure that anything specifically meant for charity also goes to the charity mule as soon as possible, there is no problem. After all, I decide how much I want to spend on my charity, so it's my decision how much of my personal funds go in there, and when I do so.

'course, I make sure that the overall... worth of my charity mule never drops below a certain amount, items and pure gold combined, excluding higher-priced rares, since they are rarely 'just' given away, but more likely to be the price in a contest. I just want to make sure that at all times, I have at least a certain amount of leeway in giving out stuff, so it is important to have not just pure and larger items, but some smaller items as well. Things like a bunch of cheaper EIs and such, a few commons here and there, mostly for new Menewshans, maybe a commemorative or two if I got my hands on some spares.

Currently I cannot access either mule, charity or personal - long story, involves one of them being a 'dead account' thanks to a rebounced mail and forgetting the password of the other while it has no email-address attached to it so I can personally reset it - so I am unsure of the overall worth of easy-to-give stuff my charity mule has, but I believe, from what I remember from before my hiatus, that my charity mule currently has about 11k in pure... so it depends on how much items it has left whether or not I'll have to send over a bit more gold once I regain access to it.

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:13 PM

That sucks your locked out of your mules. Did you talk to a mod or admin?

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:15 PM

I talked to BellyButton, who looked into it and told me that only support can help me. Sent them a mail, waiting for response... though I assume they are quite busy. Not in *that* much of a hurry anyway, so I'm not going to complain. Now, if it takes them a week to reply or such, I might be sending an inquiry as to the status of my case, but otherwise? Nah, it can wait.

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:18 PM

Ah I see, good thing your so patient. :)

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:19 PM

Running a charity kind of forcefully makes you patient, you know. And it highly enhances your ability to multitask, since you want to get more done than just charity-related stuff. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:21 PM

Very true, I'm not good at multitasking myself.

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:23 PM

I learnt to be. xD Not for nothing that some people call me Busy Bee Silenia or variations thereof. xD When running a charity, there's nearly always something to do, even if the thread itself is slow. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:26 PM

I never heard someone say that to you, hmm interesting.

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:29 PM

Mostly on MSN and profile messages, in threads usually after they ask me what I am doing and just the things I am doing fill up at least two-three lines of my posts. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:31 PM

Oh I see okay. :)

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:34 PM

Also, most people you saw me speaking with last night don't know me -that- well, it's mostly rainbow-reggies (regulars of my (currently inactive) charity) that do say such things. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:35 PM

Oh I didn't know. XD

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:37 PM

I assumed so. I don't tend to say things when the people I say it to already know it - or it must be an inside joke or something they asked for/about. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:38 PM

Nods. "Makes perfect sense."

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:40 PM

Glad that I do, because when I don't make sense, I'd have to explain it -again- and I'm not -that- fond of repeating myself. xD

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:40 PM

I don't think anyone is fond of repeating themselves.

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:50 PM

Not necessarily, no, but some people are overly fond of hearing themselves speak.

Kukon 09-08-2011 12:51 PM

That sure aint me. XD

Silenia 09-08-2011 12:55 PM

Nope, didn't think so either.
