Hello, Aspinou! :)

So do any of you guys have any good sandwich combos? Lately I've been doing guacamole spread on the bread with some alfalfa sprouts, provelone slices, and tomato. I hear hummus is good for sandwiches too.

sure Fire.

it's called the 'half cup granola' recipe.
so each ingredient is a half of a cup each.
the only thing that is more than a half cup is the oats.
you need three cups of old fashion oats *not quick oats*.
then mix any other ingredients you like along with honey or agave and peanut oil.
for exapmole:
cranberries,
raisins,
golden raisins,
coconut *unsweetened* grated or shredded,
almonds,
walnuts,
cashews,
sun flower seeds,
sesame seeds,
tiny m and m's,
pieces of chocolate,
esspresso beans,
and basicaly anything you like.
then you bake it on a flat sheet *or eat it raw in yogurt* until it is golden-ish.

I love subway veggie sandwiches. I get 6 inch on wheat or 9 grain oat toasted with swiss cheese and then lettuce, tomato, cucumber, a little bell pepper, a little olive, and chipotle sauce. :D
I had one last night.
But I've been craving a veggie bagel sandwich forever! :/ There aren't many places to get them in Houston. We have lots of bagel places but not so many bagel sandwich places. :(

hummy 10-23-2011 05:33 PM

i love bagels too.
especially the shemere, the light garlic and herb is my favorite.
make your own sandwhich sweetie.
just be careful cutting the bagel, they are dangerous!

Algas Soleado 10-23-2011 06:34 PM

Hmm.... Meh. Haha I'm fine. I just had bean tacos. :)

FireOnix 10-23-2011 06:40 PM

@ hummy :) cool thanks

hummy 10-23-2011 07:05 PM

you're welcome Fire.
let me know how it turns out.
i made mine really crunchy, that is the way i like it.
most everyone i know likes it chewy but i love to hear a crunch!

Cherry Who? 10-23-2011 08:37 PM

That sounds good, Algas! I'm not really a fan of cucumber, though. Do you think that zucchini would make an okay substitute?

Aspinou 10-23-2011 08:50 PM

I think you can just skip cucumber, it doesn't have so much taste whereas Zucchini does.?

lol my spell corrector wants me to change zucchini into Puccini.

Cherry Who? 10-24-2011 04:10 AM

Oh, I think cucumber has plenty of flavor... just not a pleasant one. Your spellchecker doesn't recognize zucchini? That's weird.

really?
do you cut out the seeds?
sometimes that gives people heartburn-ish kind of feelings.
or have you tried the english cucumber?
man i could go for some zucchini muffins or bread.

FireOnix 10-24-2011 06:55 PM

@hummy how do you make it more crunchy? add more nuts and less dried fruit?

hummy 10-24-2011 07:37 PM

i used less liquids and baked it longer.

FireOnix 10-24-2011 07:39 PM

oh ok

hummy 10-24-2011 07:43 PM

plus let it cool completely before you zip lock bag it or put it in a plastic container.
if you don't even crunchy granola gets a bit whimpie if it's still hot from the condensation.
you can always cut the oats part of the recipe down to a cup and a half to see how you like it instead of having such a big amount to begin with.
as much granola as i eat i love the big amount of the recipe.
i even eat mine with popcorn, i love the sweet and salt taste together.

Aspinou 10-24-2011 08:49 PM

@Cherry Flavored Antacid I've tasted "home made" cucumbers, the ones from the store tastes nothing in appearance. XD But zucchini tastes better (in my opinion) anyway, so :)

FireOnix 10-25-2011 03:56 AM

@ hummy cool Im going to try to do that this weekend

Cherry Who? 10-25-2011 04:09 AM

No, it's nothing to do with heartburn, and I imagine homegrown would only make the flavor stronger. It's not that I don't know what a cucumber tastes like, it's just that I don't really like the flavor it's got. Too sweet for savory meals, just not really that pleasant for sweet things. Unless it's been pickled, that is, then I like them.
