Well, Antagonist definitely achieved the desired look!

And as for being over 20, nothing wrong with that at all...

Kirin Rosenbaum 08-28-2013 11:03 PM

I am going to be thirty four in November.

McNugget 08-28-2013 11:07 PM

Wow [:O] For some reason, going through some of your facebook pictures before, I thought you were in your mid 20's [lol]
You look a bit young for your age.. that's a good thing! [yes]

Kirin Rosenbaum 08-28-2013 11:19 PM

I know I do. And it doesn't bother me the way it used to.

McNugget 08-28-2013 11:38 PM

It used to bother you? How?

Kirin Rosenbaum 08-29-2013 12:05 AM

When I was a teenager and people thought I was younger then my actual age. It used to piss me off so much.

McNugget 08-29-2013 12:12 AM

Ohhh. Yeah.. that had to be bothersome. I was in a similar situation back when I was 15 - 16 because during that time period I was the same height I was since I was 12 which was 5'2, so I was quite short and people would often think I was still in middle school because of my height and for having feminine features that I guess gave people the "pre-pubescent" idea. So I would often get questioned by strangers when I'd walk my way to the high school saying "I think you're headed in the wrong direction kid. Middle school is that way" [sweat]. I thought I was going to be short forever until I finally started to sprout at late 16 [lol] and then once I hit 5'7 about a year later no one ever called me a kid again~

Hehe, I already have an idea for making it even creepier! But that would require the new Nalin doll which I don't have yet.

Nothing wrong, but I wish I were still like, 12 right now. [sweat]

It used to annoy me, but now I'm already at an age where I wish I looked younger. It pisses me off when parents tell their kids to greet me by saying, "Hello/goodbye Auntie/Uncle"

Like, what the fuck. I'm 24 years old, don't you people usually reserve that title for people over the age of thirty? [stare] It annoys me how the Chinese (possibly all Asians? I'm not familiar with how Koreans do it though I know 'Adjussi' pretty much means 'big bro' and this other word means 'uncle' too when they address people...not sure about the Japanese either...) like to use these 'family' terms to address people all the time. It's a cultural thing, yeah, but if you must use them instead of 'ma'am/miss/sir/etc', would it kill you to be polite and use 'big sis' or 'big bro' instead? People tend to like to feel younger, you know. [illgetu] I use 'big bro/big sis' when referring to the more senior co-workers in the office, even though a few of them are all past the age of forty. [stare]

Dan- I keep forgetting you wear glasses.. Just like sometimes I forget you're over 20 [sweat]

Kirin - IS IT NAKED THURSDAY ALREADY? [insane] *Strips off clothes*

Haha, I like the way I look with them so that's why I have a pair. [yes]
Hipster kind... I don't know! -looks them up-
Uh, not really, I think. They aren't this big.

But they are solid black framed. (Oh, they have a pattern on the inside, I never really paid that any attention.. XD)
Mine are like this:

That shift from Big Sis to Auntie among Chinese family friends here was an interesting one for me too...something I only really had to get used to in recent years...and now that I actually am an Aunt I'm a bit more comfortable with the title. I remember feeling old at the time I was first called Auntie though.

Antagonist 08-31-2013 04:27 AM

The first time I was called auntie/uncle I was in high school. That sucked. >__>;

Ling 08-31-2013 07:40 AM

Maybe you're tall and I presume you weren't dressed in a school uniform at the time...I suppose since you live in Taiwan which is a lot more mono-cultural...maybe people tend to think high schoolers look like adults out of the high school context...

Antagonist 08-31-2013 08:36 AM

Yeah, but still...[gonk] I usually see people and think they're younger than they actually are, I guess the people I come across just happen to see people and think they're older than they actually are? [stare]

Ling 08-31-2013 12:09 PM

That would be interesting if that were the case, that people thought you and others look older than they actually are. People often think I'm younger than I am, but I think it's because Caucasians and people from other cultures tend to think people of Asian appearance look younger. Asians tend to be able to more accurately guess my age. So I think because majority of Taiwanese are Asian, that type of thing might not happen.

Antagonist 09-01-2013 09:03 AM

That's possible...though it'd be fine if they were actually seeing the actual age and not thinking people are older than they actually are. >__>; Or I just look old. xD;;

Ling 09-01-2013 09:19 AM

Yes, I suppose it would be nice for people to be able to see people and their actual age...and my thought suddenly drifted to Death Note and the death time seeing eyes...

At least you actually not old...even if you may look older [:)]

Antagonist 09-01-2013 12:08 PM

lol!! That would be convenient, even if others probably won't be too happy to have other people seeing their age like that so easily. [rofl]

Haha, I do kinda wish I'm half my current age though, just to go back to being a kid again. [lol]

Ling 09-01-2013 12:38 PM

I lived a strange childhood where I always thought being a kid was great but I spent my youth worrying about what would happen when I grew up...so now that I am old enough to be grown up by most peoples' standards...I sometimes wonder whether things would have been different had I not been worrying about my future self.

Antagonist 09-01-2013 12:54 PM

I think I spent my youth not worrying enough about my future...or not worrying about it enough to do something to try and 'shape the future' or something like that. Makes me wonder if I turned back into a kid now, if I'd do something different, like try to get into a different major, different school, and all that.

Ling 09-01-2013 01:06 PM

In terms of career, I think there is always an option to go back to study, if you feel particularly passionate about a certain career path that requires a qualification to pursue...

In a period of a few short years from about my late teens to early twenties I made a few more career changing decisions than most people would make. That is one reason I'm still studying at my age.

Antagonist 09-01-2013 02:26 PM

I have no idea what kind of career I'd like to pursue, hence why my current job is just a random desk person/assistant/secretary-thing. No idea what I want to do in the future either, so all I can think of right now is to find a job that I can do until I retire and not have to worry about being laid off or something. [:?]

Ling 09-01-2013 11:06 PM

I'm not sure what it's like there, but apparently in Western society it is becoming increasingly common for people to change career paths a few times throughout their lives. I think it is an interesting trend, though I'm not sure if it is good for the inviduals.

Antagonist 09-02-2013 12:32 AM

I think it's becoming more common here too, I just wish I know what I want to do long-term.

Ling 09-02-2013 12:57 PM

It's hard to find a career path that you'd be happy to stay in for a long time. I had wanted to be a business owner of sorts as a kid growing up, I entered a marketing degree as a school leaver and found out the hard way that that was not for me at all...when the chance to change came up I took it.
