I've slept and zoned out all day. How have you guys been?
|
Oh that sounds wonderful. I'm exhausted. I went to the la zoo - baby hippos are adorable!! And elephants are bigger than I ever imagined - and then we drove almost 2 hours south to meet up with my brother and now we are headed back to the hotel. I'm exhausted.

I haven't had that kind of experience yet, where I had to be that far away from my family for an extended period of time. Nice to hear about your experience at the zoo! :) |
I think that sounds more wonderful. I don't go to the zoo often and last time it was REALLY hot, but I went with my cousin and her kids and they were so cute holding my hand!
|
Salvete: Yeah, 8 hours from my parents and my brother in opposite directions.
And it is horrible. I'm so close to just calling it quits. I hate it. But the zoo was fun. Even if there were way too many people and caused me to crash and short circuit. But it was nice before that started to happen. It caused me to almost break down crying awhile ago. Kat: oh both were fun and enjoyable. But I'm just horribly over stimulated and crashing (almost to a point of a headache). I don't go to the zoo often but the LA zoo has a baby hippo. And I really wanted to see that plus I've been waning to have photo opportunities. |
You'll have to share the pictures some time. You have a knack with the camera I think.
|
Oh, I will - I wasn't at my computer at the time. [yes] I'm just glad at least a few of the pictures turned out. [yes]
|
Nice. Ya got to snap a lot of pictures in case one turns out nasty. I get super camera happy around landscape and flower type things. Animals too. So long as there aren't people in the picture.
|
I don't mind people pictures.... I actually enjoy taking candid shots. [yes]
But I pretty much delete about half of what I take. [yes] Usually more than half. ---------- Post added 11-28-2014 at 09:55 PM ---------- Ok, got like 7 pictures that I took that I'm ok with sharing: http://i.imgur.com/9CEu1zWl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/15Dd5Qpl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TOQZyZzl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2sEhSmil.jpg http://imgur.com/clrIYD4 http://i.imgur.com/3HG4fw4l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wDmJyptl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IgDk50xl.jpg Can you tell that I was focused on the baby hippo? [lol] |
The hippo is cute but wah I love giraffes!!
|
Giraffes are such strange looking animals (but they're very majestic). There were four of them, three were very content with where they were, the fourth kept pacing around and around - I think the keepers were cleaning the main part of their enclosure, so it wanted to go back down there, but they couldn't, as there were gates closed keeping in one specific area for the time that I saw them.
It's just not every day, at least not for me, that you get to see a baby hippo that close. It was so cute! :] |

We try to go most years. We haven't missed many since it's started.
|
I think last time I went to the zoo, there were baby giraffe and they were cute and tiny. I always like seeing the big cats. The ocelot was awake so that was nice. He was right against the window and the four year old wanted to pet it. We almost lost her because she ran back to look at the kitty so more.
|
I just love my zoo.
|
The hard part for me with the big cats, is they're usually behind wire that is hard to get pictures though. :(
Oh, gosh, that's not good that you almost lost the four year old because they ran back! Teaching the kids not to run away is an important thing that they need to learn, for sure! ---------- Post added 11-29-2014 at 01:04 PM ---------- I rarely go - it'll probably be years before I go back to one. [yes] |
Wire? most of the time there's a glass wall to view from. What do they put behind wire? Lions and tigers maybe? I haven't seen those in forever.
Well, I was still there but the kid ran away from mom. She's not the sort to stay away for long because she's an introverted kid and her little sister is not. |
It depends, not all of them have wire - and when there is glass, it's so smudged with hand prints that it is downright awful to take pictures though. :( So I didn't get a lot of pictures of the big cats because of that. [yes]
Even then, introverted or not - running away from adults when you're not at home and in an unfamiliar place, is not an ok thing to do. *shrugs* |
I guess? I never think about taking pictures. I'm just there too look.
eh, she wasn't in any real danger. |
I love taking pictures at the zoo.
|
I didn't get good pictures of the chimps because one of the sections to view them from, where the majority were - was in front of this glass (plastic... actually, I think it was) that was so smudged that pictures would haven't even been worth taking. Not all of the enclosures are just those glass/plastic in front - same with the gorillas... I didn't get any pictures of the gorillas for the same reason. I got a few pictures of CJ (one of the tigers, who was born at the Sacramento zoo and recently moved down to the LA Zoo, and I saw him when he was still at the Sac Zoo before he was moved), and a couple of the lions, but other than those, no big cat pictures. :(
|
I haven't been to the zoo in ages. They opened a new penguin exhibit this year and next year the new aquarium is going to open. So stinking excited.
|
I'm just lacking the energy to finishing editing - I got my pictures from yesterday from around 250 down to 71... but I need to sort through those 71 and figure out which ones I like and which ones are crap and throw those ones out as well. :/ I just am lacking energy to do that sort through.
Yesterday totally knocked me down, and I'm struggling to find my footing again. |
Don't push yourself.
