His overall powers. He's a Spirit (Not a demon) of Anger. Obviously, his powers would be augmented from Rage, which could be a benefit in combat, but I'm trying to play them down a bit, so he's not 'too' powerful.

Yeah? Sounds interesting though something suited best for a video game than fiction writing. Are you looking for help keeping him from being a god type character?

But yea, I want to keep his powers to a level. I'm a good story teller, and with the help of a couple of friends, I've made him a decent character, with a good story.

His belief stems from the fact that, he believes god has abandoned his fellow spirits, and shows favoritism on a race that manipulates his kind (via necromancy, corruption, binding, summoning, etc). This has transformed him into a spirit of pure anger., granting him powers over the most common, and most powerful, of human emotions. This makes him extraordinarily powerful, but not invincible. His rage can be as much of a crutch, as a benefit.

For example, one of his powers is 'Penance stare'. It's a benefit, as well as a hindrance. He can stare into the eyes of an opponent, and basically cause physical harm to them. However, the effect is quite confusing. While it causes physical damage, they do not feel it. All the pain they 'should' feel, he feels multiplied. For more powerful creatures, they would most likely get a nose-bleed, he would feel like he was struck with a metal bat.

Onto attributes as a spirit of anger, pain can cause his anger to increase, thus increasing his overall power, but again, it's a problem. The angrier he gets, the more powerful he becomes, the less strategic he becomes. He becomes more prone to making mistakes, causing injury to himself, and falling into traps more often.

His powers basically balance themselves out.

Now, that's not to say he's an overall cruel and ruthless person, it's just there's little to no room in his heart for mercy. He hates humanity, but he will not let those that cannot fight for themselves simply suffer. He's also a healer, but again, this has it's drawbacks- Every wound he heals, he takes it on himself. The pain caused on him is tremendous, but he continues to do so. Not a bad person, but extremely misguided.

Andraus: Feels like you've thought about it a lot. But if the penance stare hurts him more than his opponent, doesn't it also have no point? Why use it? The balance out of drawbacks to power is good. That's how it should be. Doesn't sound like he's too powerful if there's a price. If a character isn't all good sides to their power and happy with it, it's fine.
But still sounds exactly like a video game. It's not for a novel is it?

It depends on the mental fortitude of his opponent. If they have a weak mental fortitude, they can easily suffer severe gashes bruises, and possibly broken bones.

It isn't. My characters for my novel are not like this. He's gonna be a character I use for my roleplay.

I Don't think I set my characters up that way, it's just the way I've always set them up. Aiden Motori is my most recently made, but I think I've put quite a bit of tweaking into his design. Overall character image was done by momochan: but we all discussed the power things.

Well that's cool that you did it a bit with friends. It's the attack system and almost statistics for what's powerful and weak against what that reads as game design.

yeah. We have a blender somewhere or so my mom says. I've never seen it. There are plenty of coffee drinks you can make without one though.
