I got my facts from National Geographic or some sort of nature show. The mother will defend the babies until the hatch and at that time she hasn't had food for months and dies basically from starvation. The babies first meal is their mother....

I hadn't realized that sea dragons couldn't use their tail like sea horses. I should have noticed based upon their body type. They are more elongated and sea horses are more centered on the body. They don't seem to blend as much, but that's just me. Who knows if I'd see a sea horse while swimming. I am interested to see what your character looks like, or read what they look like. Either or
