Pokemon. It was actually one of the cheaper decks, too. Still, it's annoying to lose track of the deck RIGHT as we got the last few cards for it.

I still have my old pokemon card collection. It's just nostalgic.

Ah. Those things my brothers definitely got rid of. Mostly. I never thought of those as collectable though, just playable.

Aw I use to have pokemon cards but I got rid of them. even had a rare Yu-Gi-Oh card tin with a lot of cards in it. but it got lost when I moved in 2010. man I miss those cards a lot.

It's too bad Pokemon cards are on a rotation, where only this years cards are able to be used in 'standard'. (It's why I always liked YGO more.)

That seems kinda strange. We bored of the pokemon game very quickly so I only collected the cards for collecting purposes.

I understand it's to get strategies for the tournaments fresh (so that one particular combo doesn't take over the entire meta for too long), but it makes it an expensive hobby.

Oh, I love collecting them too! They reprinted the old art this year, and they also have an artist named Asako Ito that does cute crochet art for some cards. They're my favorite.

That's kinda adorable. I really want to get the old cards from when I was a kid as there are a few I'm missing and it's not the same to get the same pokemon with different art, but I'm not willing to really invest in that.

crochet art is sort of cute and I have a bad habit of collecting things. I've lately been into this card game form japan. but I don't know if it will ever come out here in the states. its a cute idol game but I know its in different parts of Asia at least.

its called Aikatsu! right now in japan they finish the anime and first card game. now they have a new one called Aikatsu! Star's. I have watch all of the first season of Aikatsu! some of the 2 season of it. but none of the new series. the game is trading card base the game type of arcade game form the Bandai company. they have some games that use a system called carddass.

Huh, sounds interesting. I might look at the anime although I don't watch a lot anymore. Every now and then something still catches my fancy.

Also they do have some one ds game and like four 3ds games in japan. I love the music it has a catchy beat to it.

I have played with them in the not to distant pass.

I know they have people that play with yu-gi-oh cards at con's at lest. but not anyone I'm friends with still plays the game.

My brothers played until recently but they switched to Magic.

I still consistently play Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic...it results in lots of teasing among "adults" for playing a "kid's game" that doesn't take much strategy (supposedly...)

I think Magic is supposed to be pretty strategic? Yugioh is somewhat, but I know my brothers got fed up with it. They also played Duel Masters a lot. It was interesting because there really aren't good or bad cards and it's all about how you play but there was never a competitive following for that.

Oh Magic is nothing but strategy. Yu-Gi-Oh takes strategy too, though there's a bunch of meta cards that kill it for pretty much anyone other than the people with the meta cards.

I never got into Duel Masters, but I have a Battle Spirits deck...I wanted to get more into it, but nobody other than I've heard about it X'P

Yeah, and in competition don't they ban certain cards when they get too OP, but you invest in those cards, then have to invest in other ones all too soon.

My brothers played all those card games. I only ever played pokemon and then a little Yugioh. I'm so bad with strategy so I could never get into something like Duel Masters of Magic. I'll stick to other nerdy pursuits.

I know a few people that play magic but I never played it my self.

When I first went to MCCC I found a group of young men who played. I didn't have the strongest deck but I had a lot of trap cards that were activated when flipped. So they avoided me as much as possible. It was a good feeling.
