Hey there Kirin. [:D]

Antagonist 09-14-2013 05:54 AM

Yeah, I woke up about two hours ago (dragged out of my bed by dad to eat lunch [XD]) and I'm still sleepy. [zzz]

Ling 09-14-2013 07:48 AM

The concept of pickle gardens kind of reminds me of the April Fools Day prank about spaghetti trees...I saw the clip that was created, it's funny to think that people actually fooled by it.

Antagonist 09-14-2013 08:20 AM

...People actually thought spaghetti grew from trees? o_O;

Ling 09-14-2013 08:24 AM

It was a mass prank played on people from clearly English speaking backgrounds way back when...the clip I saw was black and white...so obviously people in those days were not as clued up about Italian cuisine as they are now.

Antagonist 09-14-2013 08:35 AM

Ah. [XD]

I recall a more recent story about how a lot of kids are so isolated from nature that when asked where (chicken) eggs came from, they said, "Factories." [sweat]

Ling 09-14-2013 08:37 AM

That's soo sad...and they probably think the same of meat...

Antagonist 09-14-2013 08:38 AM

Yeah...or parents would spoil their kids so much that they don't know how to peel oranges or think they're completely different fruits if not peeled...

Ling 09-14-2013 08:52 AM

See...I think my parents did spoil me a bit by preparing fruit for me as a kid, while I now know what they look like intact...there's a certain melon my mum used to peel, slice and stir fry, and because she doesn't get that melon anymore for whatever reason, and she doesn't know what I'm referring to when I ask, I do not know what it actually was...or looked like as a whole melon...[gonk]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 09-14-2013 10:06 AM

Wow, that's nut about the spaghetti thing! [:O]!!

And yeah, it is sad/interesting that some folks grow up pretty ignorant of where food comes from.
For kids I can understand I suppose because if they've never been taught it, of course when asked where a fruit or something comes from, they're going to say the store. [lol] That's the power of observation at work right thurr~

What color was the flesh of the melon, Ling, do you remember?

Antagonist 09-14-2013 11:25 AM

Is it 冬瓜?? [:O]

It's a pretty useful melon, since you could make drinks, soup, stir-fry, and so many other kinds of dishes with it. [heart]

Ling 09-14-2013 11:59 AM

I don't think it was, 冬瓜 winter melon, but from memory it did kind of look similar, only differences were that it was greener, not as transparent when cooked, and texture wise, not as grainy...if that makes sense.

Antagonist 09-14-2013 04:34 PM

Hmm...胡瓜?
